so I had a breakdown recently and luckly my hagarty insurance got me a free tow back to the house. I ordered some new parts thru JC whitney and replaced the fuel pump and noticed no fuel coming out of the fuel line. So I replaced the fuel filter and now I have gas!.. BUT the car won't start... I read on another forum that these Brosol fuel pumps made in brazil can be "reversed" has anyone experience this? I may just try to put the other pump back on.. but was going to try to reverse the hoses first.

I have it hooked up exactly like this old picture.. but its not working...

is there a way to prime the pump?

Greg, You say "now you have fuel", you mean to the pump? (If so, not wanting to insult you) --did you install the actuator rod? Sorry if that seems obvious. Too many gaskets/spacers limiting the stroke?
Bad form stock? Take it off and actuate by hand, do you have pressure?--Good Luck!
Unfortunately, you're going to continue to have fuel pump problems as most of the mechanical pumps are junk these days. Not to say that it WILL happen but the likelyhood is great.

Replace the mechanical with a nice rotary pump. Mount it under your gas tank, add a filter before and after the pump and be done with it.

I use the CB model #3193 http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=577 and their block off plate for the existing fuel pump cavity http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=578 This plate will also allow you to drill the center hole and use it as an engine vent to your breather box.

If you're really interested, and want to be safe, follow these directions that I posted on http://www.spyderclub.com and it will direct you on how to wire in a relay that will stop the pump if your engine stalls

sorry... haven't been back here in a while... I "think" I just ordered the wrong pump and the accentuator wasn't long enough to pump the new pump.. I was able to "rebuild" the old pump and it seams to work fine.. their is this pin that works its way out by itself and I just had to put it all back together... that electric fuel pump is very interesting... I might actually try one of those out.. thanks!
