It looks a little slow here so I thought I'd post a few photos of my black beauty.

Number 1. This photo shows just how close the master cylinder. is to the front lower beam.  I measured 1/8" clearance.  This is one of the difficult areas when fitting up all the surrounding components.  It's set up for a European Golf  rack and pinion steering box such that it will have equal length tie-rods in that area as well.

Rusty is the guy who is building my Spyder. He is a real craftsman and I'm glad he is the one doing this nearly prototype work and real time fabrication.  These kinds of skills are not easy to come by or acquire !

Number 2 shows the cut-out for the radiator fan.  It's cut around close to the fan radius to act as a proper fan shroud.

Number 3 just shows what the motor mount supports look like.  This is for you guys that are doing your own frame fabrications. It's easily/entirely removable, thus making a little more clearance for engine removal.

Number 4 Just shows the installation of the small, horizontal flow, thick, 2 pass, 2 row, aluminum radiator with 1" by 1/8" tubes inside. It connects to the engine in the rear with AN 16 shielded hoses. Air enters thru the low  grill up front.

Number 5 is just another photo of the other side of the radiator. The cardboard protects the radiator fins during install and fit up.  Another example of Rusty's know-how and experience.

Number 6. Alas ! My suspension components are back from the Powder Coater. They are semi-gloss black. They should look pretty good against the red frame.

I expect I will be driving my new toy home this Spring.  It would be nice if we have a West Coast Cruise this year and I could attend with my new ride. Of course this would definately require that the car is checked over, adjusted tweaked and sorted before........We'll see.................Bruce

Thanks for the likes guys but I didn't do any of this work.  The fun part for me comes when I get it home and start playing and improving, testing, changing, adding to it and probably fondling  it !  Ha Ha

Rick...Yup you're right.  I meant Polo.    Same thing except with a horse ? Just kidding.  They are different........ thanks for the correction.

550 aus........ I believe that is the shallow version of oil pan.  Also there is a sort of "stand-off tube" for the coolant filler and cap that is welded to the coolant passage. This is necessary to help prevent air pockets in the coolant system causing little or insufficient cooling. Here's a photo for you. Also on my build, I am using a Suby 5sp trans, so no adaptor, flywheel or VW starter are necessary. I like to watch you as you progress in your build. I've done a little fabrication and totally relate to what you are posting. I hope your project won't slow down because I like getting your updates.

Rick....You must be going nuts watching the  progress on my ride !  I'm really interested in seeing what you do with yours !  I know you already have a lot of things just standing by waiting for installation and some still in the making. You will have a very fast little Spyder when finished.  Handling should be wicked ! By the way....I'm going with the Fuch's...........Bruce

I can’t wait for Greg to call me one day and let me know my project is underway! It’s been a long wait! Good thing I’m relatively young! 😂
