Had to go see my car before I head South and make sure Greg didn't need anything other than my ECU for the Suby engine.  Here's some photos.  The black paint is really nice under the dust..  They have started to assemble it now that the body is firmly attached to the frame.  At first I didn't want the louvers but now I'm glad I got them. All the blue is tape covering the red frame.  I already cut in the holes for the latches that replace the two leather straps on the clam shell rear hood. They looked very nice finished out with the black paint. The rear frame is all tucked in to accomodate the Suby EJ25.  The Trans is a Suby 5 speed.  The steering wheel was supposed to go on another Spyder but Greg sold that Spyder with the wheel that it had so I bought this one.  Already to go on the Spyder.  The wood up close is gnarly and beautiful and looks to be African Bubinga. The wheel is flat.  No dish in the center......Bruce

Thanks for the kind comments from all you alligators waiting on the shore like in Jim's cartoon he posted !  Ha Ha. !!   Since I want a flat wheel it would be very easy for me to make one from scratch. I have the tools and skills.  My thoughts were to use Mexican Ironwood on the aluminum frame. I retrieved some out in the Sonoran desert a couple years ago and it's nice and dry now. It's denser than the common Ironwood (lignum Vitae) and not oily.  BUT ! when Greg showed me the wheel he had, I bought it instantly.  I'm not into wheels much but I'm into wood and this one is uncommon..........Bruce

No Rick....I ran out of time.  He wants me to be there when the pinstripes goes to work on them so I guess that will wait until I return from Mexico. He has plenty to do on it before I return anyway.

Now that the color is black I have been thinking about trim.  With that in mind I would like to find out if engine turning will show up if it's been anodized.  I already know that highly polished aluminum comes out with a nice matte finish after anodizing. I don't know if it will wipe out the engine turning.  If it doesn't, I have some ideas.

I hope this delay in the pin striping doesn't slow down your project Rick........Bruce
