My buddies, Dave and Cynthia, stopped by today with their 1958 356A. It was 65 degrees here in Wilmington, DE. They called me to see why I wasn't at work? I was out cruising around! I guess they had they had the same idea. I just thought folks might like too see pics of the sweet "inspiration" of our cars.

It's funny reading the comments about the similarities and differences in original vs. replica. When Dave and Cynthia were leaving I was telling him about some of the issues I was having with my car and he was very quick to mention how he felt my replica was a "better" car. He was telling me all the tales of his various 356's and their performance tendencies. How the bodies sag, the lack of power in some of the engines, etc... He knows our cars are much more fun to drive. He is not one of those "P" guys that snub replicas. A great guy to talk to about cars (he has, and has had, many vintage cars the likes of an orignal RSK, Lotus 7's, Lotus Elite, 356 Coupes, 550, the list goes on) he also has a great appreciation for food and wine so between our mutual interests we've developed a nice friendship. As the story goes, about 20 yrs ago he steered me in the direction of a replica instead of an original for various reasons. He now jokes with me that I should have talked him into selling me his old 59 because it would be worth 10 times by now.
Michael,
The people in the pics are Dave and Cythnia, the owners of the two cars. Dave specializes in repairing and restoring vintage autos and Cythnia has a small business of hand weaving (sweater, scarfs, hats, etc...) they're great people!

Cory,
I'm going to have to ask Dave and Cynthia to start parking in another spot other than where I usually park behind the restaurant. People are always coming in asking "Was that your car Mickey? How many toys do you have?" I have to explain to them that I just have really cool friends.

I'll see if I can't talk Dave into driving one of his coupes up next time. He also has a Lotus 7 that is just awesome! though I'm not sure if that one is meant for the road? They have invited me to a 356 Registry meeting/thingy sometime in Jan. which I'm very excited to attend. I'm hoping to drive my car up and to see what the reactions will be?
