Hola......Today was the all VW Bug-In.  It's about  Drag Racing , Car Show and Swap Meet. Being in SoCal makes me fortunate to be where a lot of car action goes on all year! (A major attraction for me for over 50 years) Anyway, I had a couple of friends competing in the racing part so I went. Parking.....If you park in the spectator part it's a 1/2 mile walk to the event and costs $20.00.  I drive in and pay $25.00 to be in the car show and park right next to the pit area. The extra $5.00 saves me a 1 mile walk (RT). So Register for the car show in category C-11 (special interest or category)

I won  second place in my class ! There were 228 entrants and 11 classes of cars to be judged. The judging is done by only those registered in the car show and you cannot vote for your own car. Amazianno !  Last year I won a Tee-Shirt. This year I got a plaque.....upward and onward!!!........See photo below...........Cheers......Bruce

Al...First was a Manx Buggie with a ton of chrome everywhere. They told me that there was only one vote between us. He did have a really nice car.

One of my racing friends got second in the Pro Eliminator class so we had a good day.

I've been to quite few Bug-ins over the years. They use to have an engine pulling contest using stock cars. I attended one where the record was set. The rules were for two people to start at a line 15 feet from the car, drag a jack and stands and tools to the car, jack up the car, remove the engine, drag the engine on the floor jack back to the starting line and then back to the car, re-install the engine, pull the stands and jack away, start up the car and back it over the starting line.  Time: 3 min. 31 seconds. They even used to do "engine blow" demonstrations as well. They'd take an old engine, set it out on the ground, start it up with no oil in it and the throttle wired open. Bets were made on how long it would run before it blew up. Eventually safety ruled out doing this any more so into the sunset it went.

Yes...Bug-ins are alive and well out here. This one was 70 miles round trip for me so it was a nice exercise for my car too.....Bruce
