The first time I saw a FiberFab Avenger was just a few years ago. I'm pretty sure they were long done making them by that time, and I'm guessing parts were getting hard to find.
Somebody brought one to Jimmy Sartwell's shop while my car was under construction, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever -- until I walked up to it. From 40 feet, it was wicked awesome ... from right on top of it, it was a train wreck.
It had a hole cut in the rear deck for a single-carb 1600. The hole looked like it was cut with a recip saw, and the edges weren't finished. The side and rear windows were plexi and rivets, none of which was done cleanly. The interior was beyond ratty; it looked like the carpet set was a partial, the seats were fiberglass shells without much in the way of finish work, and the tunnel had doohickeys and wires sticking up out of it like some kind of electrical porcupine.
The roll cage was bolted in on one side and welded on the other, as if it was put together inside the car after the body was grafted to the chassis ... it goes on and on and on.
It was painted like a bass-boat, in a dull, Bradley GT-esque red metal flake. Uggggh.
It is the only car I ever saw Jimmy turn away. I was happy to see it leave, since it didn't want whatever disease it had to transfer to my car.
