I believe Greg and myself will be there if all goes well.

Chuck - unless you come in on I81 or I66 (from west) - you'll go right by the aforementioned Cracker Barrel. It's visible from the I95 exit.

I don't think my options are looking all that good right now.
I'll keep trying for trades.

Cory - I think they are looking for firemen to administer the "Wet Tee Shirt" contest and monitor track safety. Remember this could be the last year for the event at Old Dominion Raceway (this rumor resurfaces every year!)

We will be coming down route 15 south to route 234 into Manasas, we usually spend the nignt before in Manasas, however due to other commitments we wiil be leaving very early on Sunday to come down then driving home Sunday evening.

Good question Ed - I think the gates open at 8:00 or 8:30 ( anyone can correct me ) so we need to meet around 7:00 to 7:30 - I think the Cracker Barrel takes a good hour to do a meal.

I don't think that could work for me, man. To get to that C-barrel by 7 I would have to get on the road by 5 a.m.

I was thinking on the road by 7 and in the gate down there by 9, 9:30. Is that a bad idea? Is there no way to find you guys? This'll be my first Bug Out.

No problem Ed - they just park you as the cars come in - you will be parked someplace on the field, but it will be easy to locate everyone. I will have a pop up cover and cold water if you get overheated and want to visit. Make sure you bring chairs.

weather report for Sunday is not looking that good.May wimp out if weather dosen't co-operate.

So I'm reading a 30 percent chance of a T-showers in the afternoon, and basically 90 degrees, humid and sunny the rest of the day. That doesn't look too terrible. Hoping to get on the field by 9 a.m. Will see you all then.

I came up about 4 hours short (little things still need to be done) of having my speedster ready for Manassas, so have agood time all. ~Alan

Well, that was fun.

My first Bug Out & Bridget conked out on me just short of the exit to RT 28, about 10 miles north of the show. Turned out to be a bad coil, but took me over an hour before I gave up on her and then Greg (Wolfgang), who is truly awesome, came with a tow bar and draged me the rest of the way in. And gave me a new coil.

Too late to get Bridget properly judged but with Syl's car there and Schu's MG, My best hope was a 3rd out of 4 anyway.

Dale fed me too, which was very kind. Made it home no problem. Thanks, all. I owes you big time.

Looks like a good time was had by all - after the coil incident was resolved. I would like to make it to a Bug Out someday.

Sorry you had a long day - glad it was a easy fix once you made the show field.
Glad I was able to feed you - it was least I could do - Greg had to do most of the
work. He came to the rescue big time. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Syl won two awards w/ his Candy - 1st place in Kit Car and 1st place for interior
for the whole show - big time win and cudo's to Alan as well.

Guys like you, Dale, Greg, Syl and Alan are what make this hobby tick out here in the East.

I appreciate the design kudos but this is now Syl's speedster and deserves the sole recognition. Syl buddy I am so glad that you own this car !

Ed - you probably already know this, but your experience is the kind of comradery that makes this SOC group the best group of car guys around. Glad you were able to make the show and your car sorted out.

Syl - I'm not surprised about the awards. Its almost not FAIR to the others to compete against a DrClock production!!!

I'm gonna have to find some shows where the judges appreciate "realistic patina." You think it's easy wearing off the chrome plating just so? Making that ding in the radiator shell or that crack in the cloisonne or that subtle rip in the seat? Getting that 60-year-old-car-restored-30-years-ago look just right is no easy feat!
