I suggest cutting the stainless lines with sharp end-cutters rather than the cut-off wheel or hack saw recommended by Redhorse, the manufacturer of the hose.

I've wrapped electrical tape and used a cut off wheel.
For my current build i had hoses made with swedged (crimped) ends.
Glenn has the right idea-- I've done it that way, but wanted to make my own on the dry-sump system. The crimped ends (made at a hydraulic hose store) are just better.
A cut-off wheel doesn't work nearly as well as just buying a hose cutter. I think they're like $50 from Summit, and they work perfectly.
Looking good, Will! I would think that you'd spill less at oil change time with the filter upright, but I can see it working out better with the lines. Al
Glenn, I wrapped the hose with duct tape (tightly) and used a sharp (air-powered) cut-off wheel and it was a mess.
In desperation I asked one of the mechanics at the shop for a sharp pair of end-cutters. I nibbled my way through the line, trimmed off any excess braid and successfully installed 8 ends.
I used duct tape on those as well but the fraying was a low-roar compared to what the cut-off wheel left behind.
Al, it just didn't work out to have it vertical. Barely fit as it was!

Stan, my end-cutters were a cheap version of the $50 cutters...
call me...El Cheapo!

Yeah, I get it. There's not a lot of room there.
I've taped the ends (electrical tape, iIrc) and used a hack saw and got good results. I think I might have slipped the 1st piece on before cutting. Al
Good Job Will !! I see you used a MOCAL Sandwich too ! I don't regret installing one at all...thanks to Stan. Also...I couldn't go anywhere but with a horizontal filter in order to get the hoses into some reasonable position/orientation.......Bruce
nice job Will
Use a hatchet next time.
