Bumper Bracket Rubber Things

Right now my bumper brackets come through thin slots with about 1/16" clearance all around.

I am thinking about enlarging the holes and adding the VW rubber things.

The ones I ordered were too big.

Can anyone tell me what year VW they should be from?

You want the '63-66 beetle bumper brack grommets, you'll need to cut off the rear lip as it is made to slip over sheetmetal and won't go over the thick fiberglass, after you cut the lip off just super glue the grommet to the body. ~Alan

you can also use the 68+ ones for the front hood hinge seals. i did and it looks much better than the stuff recommended int eh CMC manual

As an alternative to super glue-ing them on, I used black silicon caulk on the bumper bracket right where the grommet slides over it. If you squish a little through the opening in the fiberglass it will act like a shock absorber when it cures and keep the bracket from rattling.
