Bumper Brackets

I posted this on another thread but sometimes things get lost in the mix.

What bumper brackets do most speedster use? The ones on my car are crudely welded t-shape pieces of 1/4" x 2" steel stock. I'd like to get something little more adjustable for proper fitting. Are the VW ones ok?

those will work fine.

The welded ones are probably stronger though. you can't see more than 3cm of the bracket once it's on the car though.

I hear what you are saying about the adjustably - i took a plasma cutter to mine to oval out the holes to allow more adjustably

It seems like the angle of the T might not be correct on the VW brackets.

On my bumper brackets the top of the T is not perpendicular to the stem.

yes, there is an angle to them (left and right), but you would be able to bend the VW brackets.

if i were you, i'd use the brackets that came with it. The welds are strong and would hold up much better than the pressed vw ones.

Micky,

Keep your IM OEM,its what makes our pan based IM's unique. My brackets are huge thick.

I guess I'll keep the 'stock' ones then. I guess I can tweek them to fit better. They've had to of taken a few shots over the years and probably just need a little bang here and there.
