Can anyone recommend a source for the bumper guards or bumperettes (not sure what they are called)?

does Beck have a website that lists the parts like VS does?
When you install them be aware that they are specific for left and right sides.
Greg Billesbach did a bunch of subtle modifications (visual improvements) to his beautiful red speedster (since sold)
One of them was simply adapting a shorter, blunter, and more attractive VW bug bumper guards by grinding the mating surface to fit the profile of the speedster bumper.
They're inexpensive and plentiful. Perhaps someone has last year's Carlisle photos showing this unique adaptation.
I've got a spare set I bought from a fellow member a few years back. I think I paid $200. $150+ UPS, and they're yours.
Stan's offering those up at a real decent price...they're about $150 each at many outlets (Sierra Madre for example).
I haven't noticed any speedster bumper guards that are 'specific sided'
On these replicas the bumper profile cutouts are identical in depth on both sides of the guard, which means they mount at 90degrees to the bumper face (left or right) leaving a subtle wal-eyed appearance.
Billesbach compensated for this by configurating his guards specifically right -and- left so they mounted directionally parallel to the north/south axis on the speedster...eliminating the slight but obvious wal-eyed appearance.
Yes, bumper guards are specific sided. The aluminum ones have an "L" and an "R" cast on the inside, although that marking is only accurate for the fronts and the rears are essentially backwards based on that mark. Additionally you can look across the 2 rear lips and one is inset more than the other. Mounted in the proper location the outside edges are just starting to get into the curve of the bumper and thus they are longer in order to make the guard sit 90 degrees tot he bumper face
Same goes for most of the chrome plated ones we have used, although they are most commonly marked with a decal and not in the part itself.
