I ordered a set of small bumper guards that turned out to be cast of such poor quality aluminum that there are pin holes and pitting everywhere. Tried grinding them out. Got rid of some, found others.
Can anyone recommend a source for quality aftermarket parts, particularly bumper guards?

As far as I know those are the hardest things to get especially if they have the exhaust holes in them ...if your looking for overider bars Grey eagle is the source for quality repro.

Think http://vintagespeedsterparts.com/ was recommended here - did they come from there? Certainly prices there are good but haven't heard reports on quality. They now are offering 15% off all orders over $600. The old bumperettes on my '89 CMC are quality castings. They quickly shine up to chrome-like sparkle.
I remember last your JPS Motorsport had them for sale but do not see them on their parts list any longer. I did see under VS site http://www.vintagespeedsters.com/parts/bumper.php offered at @125 for a set of 2. Quality wise, have not seen them. Michael
Pay $289 for a single, good quality, bumper guard for buy a cheap one and get poor quality. Sounds like a good reason to go OUTLAW. 
You might check with Rich Drewek and see if he has the molds for the ones he had cast for his Beck. They were a direct connect to the brackets and were like nerf bars in the shape of overriders. Perhaps adaptable, maybe less expensive, I don't know but perhaps worth a PM to him.
IIRC, I paid 4X the original cost of my unfinished Nerf bars, just to get them chrome plated. And that was after I did the grinding, sanding and polishing to get them ready for plating (and the the plater, after giving me a rash about how awful they looked, re-sanded and re-polished them to his standards, before he would plate them). I think the plating for the four of them was $175, all in, and they're pretty small and easy to plate. That was back in 1998 or so.

I would think that left side front would be right side rear.
Agree that sounds logical --- Maybe you mount the left rear one upside-down.
