I have those overiders front and rear with exhaust ports in the bumperettes in the rear, I used to have a high bar on my older car and have a mid bar front with marshals on the bar,  I love the overiders as they really make it 50ish, but then, some of you guys have bumpers alone, and some with bumperettes etc, they all have a different look and combo which I find interesting, and you get to choose what you want. Let me say that Overiders are NOT cheap. and I have yet to try putting my towels on them ...  Ray

The overiders with bars above were popular on a lot of '50s makes and when needed did work to some extent if you were tapped by another car but they were fastened to steel bumpers and today they are very expensive even for vintage American cars to replace. Todays Speedster replicas especially with the 'glas bumpers would hardly benefit from them they'd be all for show and not so much for function, of course that pretty much could be said for the bumpers also...get tapped by another car and I do not think that bumper even with overiders and bars would do much good in preventing body damage.

Sure Joe, here is a front and back of my recently completed car, you will note that I do not have the stabilizer metal black bars(you can see a hint in your white picture)  that go to the body and add to the bars strength... my reason, they are for show anyway. but they are period correct. (dew on the car), and yes I like that multiple $$$$ signs... quite appropriate

Thanks for all your comments on my IM.

I do think G.R. is right, they were ornaments to the car, but what nice ornaments do a web search for art deco cars and you will find that the 356 shape fits right in there with older original bugatti, henderson, 190sl MB etc, it is the round flowing shapes that we like of the 40-50's

I find even the 911 in all there versions have somewhat lost the flowing shape, If you see a maclaren, ferrari, maserati, zonda, etc, there all nice, but a 356 flows by you and it is just draws you in. Someone once told me his 356 made people smile but his black 964 did not. I think he is right, I never realized I would be in for so much attention after I had my original 356A coupe then my first IM then my second IM. I am starting to understand what it is like to be a beautiful women, the attention never let's up, now I know why I have felt like a bodyguard most of my marriage Ray

I think they're the bomb, Joe. Not right for an outlaw or a faux boy-racer, but very cool if you are going for a "gentlemens conveyance".

I wanted them... but in the end, I'm just a caveman with tools, so the James Bond ethos didn't really work for me.

I'm kind've surprised Marty didn't opt for them though. They do go with his gloves....
