It came to me in a dream one night but now it's going to become a reality.  My IM is being picked up in the next week or so.  It's heading to Vancouver, BC Canada for performance upgrades.

It will return with the following:

Double overhead cam shafts
Variable valve cam timing
Drive-by wire throttle
Intercooled and turbocharged horizontally opposed boxer four-cylinder.
250HP & 250 ft lbs of torque.

Porsche 911 front end with big Porsche brakes.  It's very exciting but we're still in the beginning phase.  I just wanted to share the excitement!

Hey, Marty

We can follow each other's progress:  up with the car; down with the bank account

Seriously, I like what you are thinking - but why shouldn't I?  I had thought of doing something similar but then decided to go for a brand new build.  Henry and I talked it over quite a lot, and I liked the idea of an IM6, but your way was a close second.

With your car being a lot newer, it makes sense for you to go that way!  I know you will love the result.

Bob and Marty, it's going to be a real hardship for me, but what the heck are friends for, eh?

Ron.  Yes, you have my permission to test drive Marty's car.  Just make sure you give it the usual thorough testing...

I hope I don't curb his fancy wheels....I'm a terrible parallel parker.

Marty:

It might be interesting to ask if it's possible to install a "Variable Boost" control on whatever Turbo set-up Henry uses.  While I understand that "More horsepower is never enough", it is also good, at times, to be able to dial it back to a more comfortable level for the driving at hand.  Especially til you get used to what's back there and how it acts under different driving circumstances.  250 ft. lbs of torque applied at the wrong time can be way more than a surprise in a rear-engined car.

Just a thought.....

Ron, just ask Henry to install a set of curb-feelers!

Jim, what a great idea.  Marty, can you email Henry and have him put a nice big set of chrome curb feelers on your car?

These look perfect.
