California Back-up Lights

Anybody know if a new speedster replica will pass a California DMV inspection without a back-up light? I'm considering using the back-up light for a third brake light.

Paul, if your backup light works, I'd leave it alone and mount a third brake light inside your grille. Dozens of folks here have done that, and they work very well.

Cory's right about this one.... For less than 20 bucks you can do a simple install under your intake grille. JC Whitney sales a unit that is very easy to wire into your tail (stop) lights.

I agree super brite LEDS In the grill from LED liquidators are great.. 12 inch lexable strips that you can cut to length and install with 3 pull ties.. Simple and neat!

Or use a 61 beetle turn lamp with candy apple red urethane paint on the lens. NOW, that looks factory and period correct.
