Caliper Parking Brake

Does the brain trust know if there is a CPB kit that can be used on my IM?

If you have rear disc brakes you maybe able to use a Wilwood mechanical brake caliper with a bit of fabrication. They come in different sizes for different width rotors:- http://www.revolutionbrake.com/wilwood_mechanical_spot_caliper.html

There is a kit made VW Beetle specific with the mechanical parking brake. I've used them a number of times but where I got them from escapes me ..I'll find an old invoice. ~Alan

Alan--I hope you are able to post the info on the disc brake parking brake. I want to change out my rear drums for discs and will neen a way to still have a emegcy brake. Thanks!----Jack

Jack, I've been talking with Carey about rear discs, and there are several kits that include an e-brake. Should pretty much be bolt-on.

The only ones that I have found have the P-brake as a drum brake...I will use this if I can't find/afford the disc. I have the rear GS flares on and am preparing for paint.
Wilwood responded to my E-mail with: No luck on this one George. I am trying to move all controls off the console to under dash.

I believe CB performance as well as SoCal both have read disk brake assemblies with emergency brakes. I have 2 cars with the SoCal disk brakes with emergency brakes

AS Jim said, SoCAl Imports has them. Also, all Beck and Vintage Spyders used this style of parking brake if the car was equipped with rear disc's

I've used these on several conversions for customers.

I have it on mine. John Steele told me they were AC Industries disc brakes.

I believe that's what Carey Hines (Beck) uses, too.

They're simple to install too. You will need a residual valve to maintain a good brake pedal and possibly a proportioning valve too.
