I recently converted the drum brakes to disc on my '66 pan. I used a 4 lug kit from SoCal. It uses a K. Ghia replacement caliper. The pedal is firm when bleeding them, but within an hour or so it becomes somewhat spongey. The calipers seem to be weeping brake fluid. The hoses and their connections are dry, but fluid will collect on the lowest part of the caliper.

I flushed the entire system and am using type 5 - Silicone brake fluid.

It appears that they are leaking internally. Was it a mistake to use type5 fluid?

Ask John C. at aircooled dot net. You should be able to figure where they are leaking though. Is it happening on both sides? If so, that tells you something right there.

Call the tech line for the brake fluid company and ask if they recommend their dot 5 for your car.
