Hi Ernie; I saw this speedster a couple of years ago,and I liked it so much I did it to my Beck. If you paint it blue, they could almost be twins. My Beck is really a combination of a couple of outlaws that I have seen and I really like the simplistic outlaw racer look. I have finnally got a hold of some rossie's, but I haven't installed them yet. I've done a little sanding and really haven't worked on it much. I am enjoying te weather and driving it. I really should finnish it, but... I do like to drive it. I'm not ready to strip it down again and finnish the paint job. We got to get together sometime and cruise the mother load. I missed you at the bugarama. My daughter took a first place for her convertible, not bad for a year old beetle.
The deck lid I got in Pasa Robles is a wall hanger in my garage, I purchased the one on my speedster from Cary Hines. When I started this project, I took a perfectly good looking silver Beck and stripped all of the interior and sanded all the paint off, filled the horn grill holes and then the bumper bracket holes. I have seen a few done this way, just a bare interior. I put in some black rubber floor mats. The carpet that was in the Beck was getting shabby and worn. Since I didn't like driving with the top up I just removed it,and stuffed it up in raffters. I am a little slow at finnishing it, I only work on it when I feel in the mood. I addmit a little lazy too! I would rather drive it than work on it at times. The hard deck was installed about three years ago and has been modified and permently bonded to the body. I don't really get wet while driving in the rain unless I have to slow up or stop. On my road trips I take along my full tonue, opened on just the drivers side. That is all I need to be compfortable while going down the road.
