'cause it looks like one! I call it the "can".
Looks to me like a Quonset hut. The Quonset hut was first designed and built in 1941 at the Naval Construction Battalion Center at the Quonset Naval Air Station here in my hometown of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The design was adapted from the WWI British Nissen hut.
So the two white things must be missles then.

I used to live over on the East Bay in South Tiverton (Near Gray's Ice Cream), and John Estes, who posts on here once in a blue moon, lives down in Matunuck. Steve Perry lives in Barrington, so there are a few other Speedie drivers around. There is also the typ356 club (www.typ356ne.org) which has a lot of events going on year round.
When I was in Tiverton I played Golf over at Quonsett NAS a few times - nice course. I've since moved to South Carolina but still get back to New England to visit with family from time to time, and make the trek to the Carlisle Kit Car Show yearly to visit with the rest of these crazies. How about you joining us at Carlisle THIS year??

Thanks for the invite to Carlisle. I'd love to go but already have a commitment for that weekend. Maybe next year and MAYBE by that time I'll have my new SAS build (placed the order June 1, 2007).
We met at the Elm Bank Show last year. I was the old guy from RI with the premature (I wish) gray hair and beard. I got the info on your clear bra and the guy in Framingham that did the install. All this is going into the 356 file while I wait, lurk on this site and drool everytime I look at all the pretty pictures.
Oh, and by the way, the weather hasn't been too bad up here this winter. Of course, everything is relative.

Speaking of missiles, I have a friend in Vacaville who bought an old Nike site. Three under ground missile bays with big doors. Also, all the support buildings are around a huge tarmac with lots of old military stuff. Be a great place to have a tour after a lunch.
