YES it can BUT you must be careful of the rear ground clearance. I had to be recovered by the RAC ( Royal Automobile Club UK) on day three of ownership of my spyder, after tire a blow out. As it was only at this point I realised I didn't have a spare tire! ( I do now). The rig cannot be to high or you will ground the exhaust.

Before I figured out the deal with our alternator (grrr) I had to have our car towed twice. We towed it rear in the air with the steering wheel locked to the brake pedal with a heavy bungee cord. Would not be my first choice for any distance move but this offered no clearance or any other problems.
Pretty light load for a tow truck! We passed another driver, same tow company on the way back to the house. My driver called him on the radio - the other driver told my driver to go back and get some more car because the one he had back there wasn't a full load. angela

I recently put mine on a car carrier...LSo Cal to Oregon was $235 from Budget for the one way.
