Cory,

As I understand it, the original Gulf colors were from the Berger Paint Company, who supplied the OE paint for Triumph. I believe they only do household paints presently. The colors were called Powder Blue and Marigold. I would try a local body or paint shop and search the color chips to find something similar...

Hmmmm ... Exterior latex paint ...
Thanks for the knowledge.
I'm also considering a base-coat/clear-coat Irish Green over a medium brown or the silver I have now over yellow powder coat.
It's down to those three, but I like the Gulf colors for what I'm having done with the door bars and hoops.
I like the green just for the novelty. There seem to be so many more schemes you can get away with on a little car with round surfaces that you'd never, ever try on a Buick.
Decisions, decisions.

I saw that on a scale model slot car doing a Google search for 917s. Looks kind of blah, but it could have been the choice of silver. Difficult to tell on such a small car. To be honest, it really didn't grab me, and with all the crazy chopping Sartwell and I have been doing, it just wasn't racy enough.
Gulf it is. Anyone have any experience with pearlescent paint? I think I might put a thin layer on before I clear-coat. I'll spray a sample piece first, unless there's some conventional wisdom I should know. I am not a body guy, so any ideas or pointers - as always - are welcome.
