Unfortunately I have read that VW's management decided not to pursue manufacture of it. Apparently they felt a 1-seater was to radical in the current market.

I was hoping to see a re-birth of the micro car market. Love to read those articles in the Brit mags of the Issetta, Messerschmitts, Bonds, etc. Didn't that obnoixous kid on the Cosby Show have a Issetta once?

Mickey - That is an awesome car. it shows up once-in-awhile at the Cars & Coffee meet down the hill from my house (SoCal). I'm telling ya, it's crazy to see these insanely rare/expensive cars roll up into a Saturday morning car meet.

Gordon - that VW looks like it has roots in their design team's entry in the Manufacturer's 'Soap-Box' derby held on the hill just opposite of my neighborhood...
