CMC took the orginal body and made it better :?)
Actually, I don't think they were the ones who started it, I just couldn't resist the comment.

155/165SR15 tires (although early 356 were 16" skinny tires) just weren't enough road contact to compete with Jag XK140, TR250 etc and the wheel opening wouldn't accommodate a very large tires. So solution cut out opening and flare the fender a bit. I think it detracts from the upside down 1/2 watermellon design but what ever flaots your boat.
Actually on a fiberglass body it probably strengthens the shell. Ha, suspect CMC saw way to change mould a bit and sell more kits --- they probably changed an extra $500 just to ship it!

Todd, I have to agree with Wolf that the CMC people probably did charge extra for the innovative new look, but it was probably not until Curt Scott got involved that anyone ever took delivery.
Heh, heh ...
Whaddya got for new photos? How's the project coming?

In place of an actual photo from Todd, I have decided to speculate on what it might look like. A spy photo, if you will. Into the Way Back Machine, kids! Let's go to 1960s!
