I've been offered a Speedster replica and I wanted to ask the experts here more about it. It's a '55 replica but somehow the side curtains don't look right to me; they look as a homemade job probably to get better visibility than the stock ones. Also it's lacking the upper side mouldings. I would like to ascertain the car's origins to be able to get the replacement parts to make it look correct. It also needs a paint job among other things. For more pictures please check my folder (Impala). I appreciate your help.

Here's another question: I notice no round cover plates on the sides (in front of the back wheel arches) as on the original Porsches, Karmann Ghias, VS and Intermeccanica replicas, etc. What's up with this? Does the fact that it's missing those cover plates mean that the quality of the body is not as good? Can those round thingies be made so as to make the car look more authentic? Happy New Year and thanks to all!

You also asked earlier if replacement parts can be used from Vintage Speedsters or other suppliers. The answer is yes, and no. I've had pretty good luck with Kirk at VS in getting parts for my CMC, but they've been mostly gauges and trim - nothing like a hood or door or anything like that. Others in the forum may have had more experience with those items. Other trim stuff - lights, tops, side curtains and so forth, should probably fit with some tweeking and people here should be able to help with that or give you more advice as to what they've tried and what worked. I've found that the narrow seating channels makes it difficult to get seats to retrofit - they have to be only 15" wide or so, unless you do some drastic mods to the mounts.....original Speedster seats fit OK, as do Porsche 914 seats.
