Any ideas why my car will not engage reverse. Is this an issue with the shifter or cable? Took a decent drive yesterday backed it in my garage and this morning I could not get it in reverse. Still put 125 miles on the clock with Chris aka Starleaf, great drive and scenery.

There are many possible causes....
Loose drub screw on the shift coupler.
Worn out or missing shift rod bushing.
Worn or dislodged tail shaft bushing.
Bent or damaged "hockey stick" selector rod.
Shifter housing has worked its way out of correct position.
Probably the last one, if the car was a turnkey when purchased...
if it is making a grinding sound when trying to get into reverse it is a loose clutch cable or bad pilot bearing. If this is the case, shut the engine off and shift into reverse, then with one foot on the clutch and the other on the brake re-start the engine....
I installed a new csp shifter in August and new clutch cable in June. Not making noise/grinding will check position of shifter.
Case closed, just needed an adjustment. Thanks for the suggestions.

Always nice when it turns out to be something simple, and not a major disassembly and costing more than the budget for the year!!
