My buddy Mike just ordered/installed one of the SS ones for his son's '63 cloth top that Mike is building for him for his 16th birthday in June. It is powered by a 18??cc engine w/dual Del's, a strong running engine that Mike pulled out of his old Baja bug. The exhaust tip does not exit the body of a VW but blows straight down on the passenger side. Mike said he is going to roll the rear body panel like he did the front and fill the exhaust ports, he is planning on running nerf bars all around.
The exhaust system does sound good on Mikes engine!!!

Yes he is!...he's a great kid though, fun to be around and he has been working on the car right along side his father. Mike and his wife have raised him and his younger sister well. They are both the type of kids adults like to be around.
I can see that the orientation of that muffler would rub my tire. My muffler has to sit nearly vertical to allow room for the tire.(and brake caliper).

Then you'd need an A-1 Sidewinder. The can on mine sits vertical but $$$$$.

I'd also recommend going with the vertical setup. The downside is the muffler will have to be pulled to get at the valves, but there is also a good chance the muffler would also have to be pulled on the horizontal setup too.
