Does anyone know where to go, who to contact, is there's a web site, etc. in order to get the documentation on a Porsche.

Where and when it was built.
What color is was.
What color the interior was.
What options were on it.
What engine size.
All that kind of stuff.

I've seen cars at shows with officially looking documents from Porsche listing their car's VIN and all sorts of cool info. I WANT ONE!

Does anyone know who/how to contact and get one of these?

Thanks!

I believe you are referring to a "Kardex" which the Porsche factory used to supply with their cars years ago. I think that they were quite specific, including such minutiae as the letter-coded values of the transmission gears. Are you interested in reproducing such a form for your replica? Almost anything is possible with computers, right?
TC:

If you mean an original Porsche. I believe you can request all the information you described from Porsche. They charge a fee for a document listing what they have on the car. From car to car, I understand, what you may get varies as their record keeping back in the 50's and early 60's left something to be desired.

I understand that requests like this at one time resulted in a direct copy the original Porsche documentation that included name and address of original owner, etc. They now just give you the specs, without the personal information. I also understand the document is suitable for framing.

If you mean a replica of a car whose company no longer is in business, you are probably SOL.

For a 356 go to:

www.356registry.org/tech/lookup.html

and you can get some of the info - but not a birth certificate like you are looking for.

For VW the procedure to get an official Birth Certificate for your beetle: write a letter including 20 DM (or 10 US $) - might be dated since they now use Euros to
Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen
Dieselstrasse 35
D-38436 Wolfsburg
GERMANY

Include the VIN (vehicle identification number/chassis code). Within a few weeks, you will a
receive a nice document stating some details about VW.
Last I heard, the group that puts these out for $100 a pop, I think it was Porsche of America or similar, required a registration or someother proof of ownership. The new Kardex is not near as detailed as they were before. And why is it always about "pissing of the purists"? If you dont like 'em, dont associate with 'em.
