I once posted a car for sale and all I got was calls about other cars in the picture.
I was looking for a 454 and found this on CL Los Angelese auto parts

Snatch up one of those so he don't mix 'em together.
I have heard of people putting v8's in Porsches, I once drove a 356 with a Corvair 6 engine.
And some people put Porsche 911 engines in Speedster replicas...
Analiese lost her hubcaps...anyone, anyone...Beurler ?

Always wanted to be crazy. I'm already deplorable.
What is the transaxle?
901 in the spyder. I think Bob has a 915.

WOW! what a car. the last few weeks I've been thinking ( DANGER/WARNING) I want to build a mid engine speedster along the lines of Hauser;s Sportolet

Are you referring to this?
Looks pretty cool but if you want mid engine I think I'd just get a spyder There are also a few replicas out there of Porsche 356 #1 which of course was one of a kind and mid engine.
Yes, Lewis Hauser's build. Gmund, Glocker's and the like are appealing as well, I guess mine would be more of an art project, where I fool around with different ideas and concepts based on the original.

Yes. 915 Five speed mated to a 993 3.6 engine. For what's it worth...two shots of it.
at 1400 lbs that spyder would be airborne in a second.
I took a long hard look at the 993 rear axle carrier and trailing arms, I really like that set up but for me too expensive. that is unless I win the lottery, at which point I would demonstrate what clinical textbook crazy looks like.
drum roll
On the other hand, 924/944 rear swing arm, axle shafts, disc brakes with emergency brakes and wheels will pretty much bolt up to a VW Bug pan --- and they are inexpensive. A couple models sported cast alloy swing arms.
...unless I win the lottery...
Well, that has been known to happen...
Those would work great on a rear engine set up. For a mid engine, it puts the front mounting location for the trailing arm into the space the engine needs to occupy. my guess is it would be a fast/cheap way to get 5 lug, disc brakes on an IRS .
Not cheap, not fast. Especially compared to a 5x130 hub conversion.
