In the posts of many people you will see their car listed after their name - 2010 VS, 1986 CMC, etc.

I realize what I am about to ask is not an issue for most people here but for people like me and Wolfgang there is something I have been wondering.

Should the year listed be the year kit was bought, the year construction was started or the year construction was finished?

This is not a trivial issue for some. It can be a matter of decades. Maybe in special cases it should be listed like a on tombstone: 1983 - 2010.

1957 CMC (Speedster) in Ann Arbor, MI

Michael----simple (to me)-----I always take the year to mean when it was finished and made it's debut on the road.

My VS was built in 2007 so my year shown is 2007. I had a new Type IV engine installed in 2010 but it's still a 2007.

I can't imagine how else to show a date fot a replica Speedster.

In other words--it's birth date--- not when conception took place.
Mike - I was going to go the the symbol for INFINITY but thought some would think I gave up totally! Guess I need to update to 2011. Actually even when I'm driving it, I'm not sure it will even be truly be done. I am going to register it with VA DMV this year so maybe that will be the year! Is kind of funny that CMC has been out of business since like 1992 and mine is a 2010 or 2011! I hoping DMV will accept the antique 1970 (year of VW donor) CONV plates I bought. Just hope they don't see the Coupe on the FL title and give me a hassle over that --- the orange vs now Black shouldn't be a problem.
