It is important to mention Tom aka Pepspeed of SOC received Best in Show - 4th runner up for authentic auto reproduction at the 2014 Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival, Lakeland Florida. Shortly after the announcement I spoke with him but he didn’t respond to any of my questions about the trophy or his Speedster. His modesty is a trait and tribute to all Speedster owners and drivers.

SOC before this gets out of hand I should say Tom and I had a pleasant visit at the Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival. Only two Porsche 356s in the show and midway through the show we migrated to them. This is real German steel and not ours. I failed to insert at the end of my post. Thanks.
So I'm confused. Does Tom have a real Speedster or a replica ?
Guys,
Like Dennis, mine is a VS on a 1967 VW pan. We both just had so much fun at the Lake Mirror Classic that we wanted to share in the "real" 356 speedster and Cabrio that were at the show. Our VS or CMC were not allowed on the "judged" part of the festival. I am thinking of bring my VS, Red next year. Sorry for any confusion we created David.
Sorry, to clarify my Red VS would be exhibited on the blocked streets in downtown Lakeland during the Mirror Lake Calssic. The lawn exhibit space (which is judged) is only for the real classics.
So just to be clear, Tom...that is you posing on the grass with another persons real Speedster and standing beside a trophy won by another ?
Regretfully, Yes.... it is someone else's real 356 Speedster (Baby Blue) and the Trophy was just one of many at the table to be awarded to participants at the judged part of the Festival.
As Dennis stated above we were just sharing the fun we had admiring all the classics shown. Neither of us brought our ride (mine is a VS and Dennis is a CMC).
David,
The link below actually shows the pictures/specs of the VS I bought back in June from Ted M. in FL. Sorry for the confusion caused.

Well, you look good next to the car and the trophy...Way to represent all us wanabees!
Hopefully next year with so many SOC members in the FL area we can perhaps get a larger group motivated and we ALL take our Replicas to the "open classic category" in the streets of downtown Lakeland? There was not a single 356 in that area (and only the 2 real 356s in the lawn for judging).
Dennis and I also noticed only one Beetle on exhibit there.
This is a strange thread.
And no one got a torphy.
... Well congratulations to Tom, who did not receive a trophy, for standing next to the better of the two real 356s in attendance (as well as the trophy).
Rock on, Tom!
Absent the influence of distilled spirits or chemicals of some kind, this thread belongs with Scully and Mulder.
That real Speedster looks good enough to be a replica and win a torphy!
SternARt,
now there is a concept I agree with you 100%.
Jim Kelly,
while no "distilled spirits" were consumed, we did have a lot of "Lemonade" that day.

The truth is out there.....
I'm surprised you were allowed to get so close to the blue (real) Speedster
You didn't touch it I hope.
Rich, the entire Festival was very "visitor friendly" and families were allowed to get up and close to even the multi million classics shown.
No, we were very respectful of others and admired their classics without touching anyone's property. The same courtesy I would expect if it was my classic parked at the festival.
Please post more pictures of your car!
Rusty, at a trade show in Vegas all week, but will post more pictures of my VS when I return to Orlando. Thanks.

That's a beautiful car Tom. I particularly like the white wheels.
