OK,

Just got confirmation from the Marriott that they are providing buckets, hose and water for our group. I'll bring a sponge, chamois, and a bottle of car wash soap. I've got two types of chamois, a natural deer skin one and a synthetic one. Any preferance or should I just bring both? Getting close!

Great Gary and Bruce! I'll bring one each bug encrusted, dusty, maybe stormed on 2001 VS with about 22,000 miles on it by then!

On the serious side, I'll also bring a can of polish that will make your brightwork shine big time. Used it on my Nardi spokes and took it from so-so to a work of art in maybe 3-5 minutes.

Really looking forward to this guys! I leave early a.m. two weeks from tomorrow. I may coordinate check ins with you, Bruce, or John by phone as other than travel to Hawaii, LA, and NYC by air, and some road hauls in my wife's TLS... well, this is the first time since the transplant that I will be truely alone and free from MDs. my loving wife, family, nurses, friends, family, and other nurturers in 4 long years. Oh, I've driven the VS alone to connecting cities, maybe 300 mile R/Ts, but that was with someone on each end expecting me by so and so time. This is the first real solo trip in a long time... and I am ready! It's like being 16 again and I've got gas, money in the pocket, a cool car, and I am putting this baby on the road!

Jim,

Better let John know as I'll be on the dusty trail myself. I'm leaving
Wendnsday morning also. Will overnight it and then slide into the Marriott, hopefully between noon and 2 PM on Thursday. Rick Davis from B.C. is joining me in Medford and maybe a few of the NoCal guys on Thursday morning so there should be enough for a card game!

This is a new venture for me also. Longest previous journey in the Speedster was about 150 miles RT last fall. My JPS has 1100 miles on it so it will breaking new ground too. Should either be broke or broken in by the time I get home, just kidding, I think. It should be about 750 miles RT for me Jim, You and Rick can fight it out for the Long distance trophy. Cary Hines, are you driving a tub in or flying?
We all have to remember to either zero out the trip odometer or write down the starting milage for you guys coming over 1000 miles.

Anyway, be great to meet everyone and share road stories about the 2004 Knotts.

Bruce

Anyone that is running short on packing space may want to know that there are plenty of auto supply stores with-in a 1 mile radius of the event and hotel. I am very familiar with the area and just thought I'd throw it out there for everyone's info.

Jim, congrats on the journey, good luck, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. I've owned many different types of cars and belonged to affiliated car clubs, but I can genuinely say that this group seems to be the most down to earth, least ego-driven car club group that I have belonged to yet.
Jim

I really can relate and can feel your excitement, being in my late fiftys been married for more than half those years, two kids 32 ,27. Never ever being by myelf for more than 2days (sounds terrible) I would really love to take a trip like yours. I can just hear the people on route 66 saying Look at the cool guy in that cool car with the radio playing Born to be wild , Heading down highway!

Have a great time wish I could be there to meet you, I have a wedding in Italy or I'd be there.

Correction on my milage to Knotts. It is 750 one way, 1500 back, actually may be somewhat more as I'm planning on doing some Sierra cruising on my way back on Monday and Tuesday following the meet.

I'll be checking the Buena Park 10 day weather that John Leader has put up on the RR site. Looks redundant so far, sunny and 70's. Like that a lot!

Bruce
Paul,

This year we are not awarding a trophy for "Crud King". Maybe next year if it turns out you have some co-conspiritors!

Are you going to join us Thursday AM at the I-5 rest stop just south
of Tracy? We'd love to have you run point for us. The smokies could hear you coming I understand and we could slip in under their radar thanks to you running lead.
