So I washed my tiny MX -5 today and I experimented with the optum no rinse car wash concentrate. I’m pretty sure Mike McKelvey was the one who posted it on the site years ago. If you follow the directions on the bottle and don’t want to get your car very wet it works fine. But if you’re not afraid to get your car wet I found this works well. I added maybe a capful to my warm water wash bucket that had some generic armoral car wash soap in it.

Yup, it was me who suggested it. It is interesting that Marty remembered after all this time.
I used it yesterday. It is nice to be able to wash the car inside the garage without water running out the door.
does water leak from the front truck or engine deck lid when washing with water ?
@beemerb0y, think that would vary from car to car. Some are sealed up better than others.

What's the actual process? Add a capful to a bucket of warm water and favorite brand of automotive soap and just wipe the car down? Towel dry as usual and go have a beer?
I wipe a limited area, like the frunk lid with a wetted microfiber cloth. Then I immediately wipe it off with a dry microfiber cloth. Then I do half the windshield and the area in front of it. Then I do a fender top. Then I do a fender side, etc.

I usually spend 2 hours every Friday evening or Saturday morning detailing my wife's Porsche Macan. The includes getting out the water deionizing system, pressure washer, soap cannon, leaf blower, a couple buckets, rolling tool cart full of soaps, creams, sprays, towels, and etc etc.
If I do it my one once a month I can keep up with the car in-between major washes with this bucket method. I'll have to give it a try. Over the next holiday break I'll be taking her car in for a full cut and polish and a new ceramic coating treatment.
