Great question; I'm using Sta-bil in my fuel since I'm using my car more sparingly now as I'm not home most of the time these days. It's designed to keep fuel fresh when in storage and until now (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems. Even the battery has stayed charged sometimes for close to three months at a time without use. I just hook the battery back up and crank the motor until the pump sucks fuel into the carbs and away it goes running as if I'd used it the day before.

It would be nice to know if there's any adverse effects to using any of these fuel treatments on the market nowadays. Judging by what some gas refineries are putting in fuel as additives nowadays I'm betting we can't do much worse.
Ricardo....I would say you are correct....Can't do much worse.....
The biggest possible problem I see would be for engines with "leaky" carbs that dribble gas into the engine when shut down.....If this "mess" gets onto the oil....Well who knows???? Could it wind up being some of that "black jello" some of us oldtimers pulled out of Ford and Chevy oil pans in the early '50's????

Just a thought.....
Rich, the only problem I have ever heard of is in engines that need lead in the fuel. The additives in detergent gasolines tend to erode the effectiveness of lead additives, like one hand cutting off the other. Old VW parts that liked lead might not like SeaFoam and such, but a quality aftermarket engine shouldn't care. If it's running on pump gas ... Anyway, I'll look that up today for something to do.
As for keeping the lubricant oil where it's supposed to be, I've never heard of quality products doing any real damage.
Actually with regards to lead in gas as it applies to VW motors I read it deals with the valve seats; that's about it. From '65 on VW heads were equipped with valve seats that will take the absence of lead in the fuel so as most of our motors are newer we shouldn't have much problem in that regard.
