That's always been my take as well, Bob. A nice long-hood R (NOT the flared out RS) is quite nearly the perfect automobile. The "last-of-the-air-cooled" 993s everybody swoons over look like all of the soul they ever possessed was sucked out of them, and all that was left was a bar of soap.

Burn me at the stake, gentlemen. It does nothin' for me.

Nuthin'.

Most barns around here have cows and cow $hit...
I still have a hard time considering this a traditional "barn find" but that is exactly where she spent the last 8 years. Needs gone through to address dry hoses and belts and such. The Varioram system is so very sensitive to the slightest vacuum leak and the geniuses at Porsche used a central vacuum log that has runs clear to the dash. Ugh.
@Stan: "dysfunctional committee" is spot on. From the centerline of the front wheel back she's very 911 looking. View from the rear she's the same unmistakable 911 and even more so inside. Seats, door panels, dash, gauges, you're in a 911, period.
From that centerline forward it's almost like they wanted to make what eventually became the 997/998 with the amoeba shaped headlights, but chickened out at the last minute and frenched in some old 911 lenses. Plus the nose of the car tucks under very quick and short when it really needed to have that RS chin.
But u can't see that from the drivers seat... which is the best place.

Carey, not a bad barn find at all!

Nice, puffinator, like the RS/RSR look also. Porsche stopped making cars after 1973 IMHO.

My '72 911 hotrod project is just getting started. Still unsure totally about front fenders. It has SC flares welded on the back fenders, and I have the rear FG bumper and an S front bumper/spoiler. Only thing 100% is the 915 tranny and the 2.7 twin plug high compression motor. I have some light leather hiback seats, 7 and 8 inch refinished Fuchs(by Wheel Enhancement) and 4 pot calipers and drilled, vented rotors(turbo brakes). Assembly to begin this spring.......
