The Ramada.... Again seems to be the best bang for the buck despite the "show weekend" pricing.
All Star Cafe ....without question, this is THE place to go for our Friday night dinner !
Rillo's.... I think we finally have found the place to have our Saturday night awards dinner.
Jeff, Rillo's owner did all that was promised and for me, the Italian food was very good.

Once again, I am asking for your input for Ramada Ltd. All Star Cafe and Rillo's. ~Alan

The Ramada was good. You just had to make sure they put you down as part of the group, and didn't charge you for the safe. The girl that checked out Lenny and I split the bill on two separate cards. I thought that was a nice way to check out, easy.

I really liked Rillo's, I think I said it about ten times. Sorry Lenny, Carey, Wolfgang, and Dale!

All-Star was great again, as usual. Excellent choices Alan, I only wish the weather was as great as the food.

It's funny, Alan, but the same speed feels different depending on which seat you're in! Glad you enjoyed it, plus I done learnt sumpin!
Alan, I am impressed by the weekend. I have no complaint or even concern with accommodations for lodging or dining--just the d.mn wet weather. I heard it was dry and sunny in San Diego all weekend...it just ain't fair to be stuck here in the rust belt. Many, many thanks for a great weekend. I sure glad that Dusty brought pictures of sun for us to look at.
Hi Alan,

No complaints here either. Great weekend, great people! I also really enjoyed the lunch in Boiling Springs and the scenery was something too.

Well maybe one complaint. The crappy weather. It even rained hard while towing the trailer north through the mountains on 15. Pitch black around midnight Saturday while trying to maintain 70 mph. Could be a reason my gas bill was $250 for the weekend.
Well I talked to a few people and we all came to the same conclusion about dinner Sat night.

Pros = We all agreed that the food was very good and ample, service was good, location good although private rooms in the past were liked, and of course separate checks was a plus!
Cons = Some people were cramped at the tables, No coffee was served after dinner, and for the Italian style buffet we thought the fair was pricy especially after adding a cocktail or two to the bill.

But after all it is
Great choice on all restaurants and hotel! Places I would take my wife - and probably a motivator next year for getting her to accompany me (yeah, car will be done then or dragged on a trailer for a Carlisle day-night 72 hour build competition). Egg samiches even met much hyped expectations.

Rare that restaurants/hotels will issue separate checks - that was a great plus on their selection criteria.

If we were to store our carbs in the hotel safe - it might be worth what they tagged on to the hotel bill! I mentioned it didn't work well as a microwave (to heat up those Caddy Shack left over hot wings for breakfast) to the hotel receptionist -- and she removed the charges from the bill. Hotel was great to let us use the breakfast room though. My room smelled little funky - like landscape mulch - but would stay there again.

I'd like to see us issue name tags to all -- like the few had from Morro Bay outing. Especially good for those who came for a single day or late.

Kudo's to all who made it work! Afraid to brag it up too much - as the number participating seems about perfect right now.

Couldn't Dusty make the rain disappear or at least levitate around us?

I was VERY pleased with everything all weekend!

The hotel was a good bang for the buck. They seemed pleased to help out how ever they could. It's nice that in the evenings they let us bring beer and chill in the breakfast room -- not all hotels are OK with that kind of thing. The front desk also lent Cory a sheet to use at Rillo's for a projection surface (which I think got left at Rillo's ... oops!). And on Sunday morning, they didn't object to the wrenching on Kelly's car under the covered part of the driveway. Very laid-back folks!

The All Star Cafe is awesome! Really comfortable and the food was also great!

The only thing that I would request is that we have some more elbow room at Rillo's. But the food was fantastic, especially considering that it was a buffet! Gordon, Jack and Dusty were very entertaining after dinner!!

And the egg sammiches were the best ever.
Thanks to all for a job well done again. Alan, the hotel and restaurant choices were fine, although I would agree that Rillo's was a little pricey. They made a good Manhattan though....;-)

Many thanks to Gordon for pulling off another great event, Bill for setting up the nightly drives (even though we only did one as planned), to Jack and the always entertaining Dusty for providing the travelogs Saturday night, to Cory for his artwork and for being Cory, to Teresa for her A/V skills and equipment and last but not least, to Alan for arranging our accomodations once again.

Also, thanks for my traveling "buds" Lane, Leon, Jack and Russ for a great time on the road. Too bad I ran out of beer so soon! I hope all of you arrived, or will arrive, home safely.

I can't believe it's over so soon and that we all have to wait another year to do Carlisle again. Oh, well. Don't forget the Dragon in October!

Happy motoring
Hoss
I could bring Mason Jars (....;-)....), but if I got stopped and searched, I could get arrested for transporting. Danny, your ale was great! Don't change your timing of the brewing, but kegs are kind of a cool idea. Maybe you've inspired me to make some again. Perhaps the Dragon Run should be a good target date ????
Caddy Shack for the early birds was very cool. Might have been nice to sit out and admire the view of the Golf Course -- actually, that might have been TOO cool -- damn the pesky May weather. All-Star is fine location, just right for a group like ours. Sat dinner was, as mentioned, a little cramped and a little pricey. Food was good. Did not like having to "share" the room w/ other party, however. Could that be fixed? That was a distraction when it came to program time. And speaking of which, what BERT pulled off for Sound and Light was truly awesome. Just a day's work for her, I'm guessing, but a way cool addition to our program. Can't say enough on this score. Cory's manifold talents, despite serious meds, put the thing over the top, as far as I am concerned. I am really impressed by folks w/ real talent. Also, the travelogues, while interesting and entertaing, for sure, would have been more so if half as long. Sunday?? too efing wet. Would have enjoyed a final trip up to the fairgrounds, but the whole thing was nixed due to weather. Alan: you're going to have to do better in this Dept. Hotel was just right, as mentioned. Very nice being able to "hang" and decompress w/ a few brewskis at the end of the day. Only one thing bad: whoever brought the flu bug w/ them can stay home next time. I am not enjoying my week as much as I'd like to; MUSB was hit by this too.

Great week end, no matter what, because: the cars, and the people what drive 'em. What a terrific group -- I am proud to be included.
The Ramada was the Ramada. The Asst. Manager goes out of her way to accomodate us AND keep friendly, helpful people on staff. The rooms are clean (haven't even had a "smelly" one yet) and even the housekeeping staff are nice when you meet them in the hall.

I still love both the Caddy Shack and the All Star. Too bad we didn't have a lot of cars at the All Star, but them's the breaks. the manager at the Caddy Shack made a special trip to the parking lot to see our cars and was overwhelmed.

Rillo's had the most cordial wait-staff folks I've ever ru across. Terrific kids. It would have been nice to have a room to ourselves, but they promised me they would do that next year - they didn't expect the after-dinner antics we did so next time they'll be more accomodating. And the food was terrific!

Sorry about the cold/flu stuff, folks.....Biaxin can do wonders for recovery.
I gotta get together with the head honcho at the Caddy Shack to figure something better for parking. I gonna try to talk him into parking us behind the deck along the golf course. There is an extra wide lane back there and our little cars shouldn't interfere with the golf carts. This not only to park but to get some nice photos, too.
