So the Southeast convoy looks like:
- Leon Chupp (and Marilyn?), northern GA
- Aaron White (wife?), western NC
- John Hallstrand (is Sarah coming?), eastern TN
- Jack Crosby (you bringing your lovely wife?), central AR
- possibly Gordon Nichols (and Kathy?), coastal SC
- Me, coastal SC
... all meeting in Christiansburg, VA on Wednesday, May 13. Leon, have you heard back from Aaron about meeting in or near Statesville? Gordon, are you gonna stay down here up to Carlisle, or will you be coming from Grafton?
MUSB - If you do your tour of the US in the Speedster, the idea of caravaning with us up to Carlisle is a good one.
Lane.....Don't tell my wife (Margaret) that Marylin is coming along....You trying to get me killed???? ;-)
I have not heard a definite yes or no from Aaron, but his last e-mail was in a positive mode.....
Looks like quite a crowd at Christiansberg......

Crap! Sorry about that, Leon. I'll claim it was a senior moment. At least I got the first two letters right. Sheesh!
Bwaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaaa
Lane--yep, Alice is making the trip with me this year.
I just emailed Cal Monmsa who is in Oklahome to join us--drive the 250 miles to Hot Springs, Ar, stay w/us then caravan to Knoxville.
John Hallstrand's wife is Sarah--a great lady!

At this juncture, Sarah is coming with me. Shoot, where am I gonna put the beer? Maybe if everybody brings some, there will be enough to go around, once anyways.
John--count me in on bringing some beer!---Jack
did somebody mention beer

I LIKE my beer on tap!!
I think we're talking beer for the group overnighting at Christiansburg, VA. Seems I remember that it's a dry county?--Jack
I like my County's wet.....
Then you're gonna love Carlisle. Oh wait - I bet you weren't talking about the weather, were you?
Bwaaaaaaaahaaaaaaahaaaaaaaa
FLASH for MUSB: Hoping to entice you yet again to attend the Carlisle bash, there is room in my room once again. Plan is to get there Thurs, return Sunday. Might find a way to get a run through Gettysburg packed in there somewhere. Also, there is room in my house if you fly in to BWI. Also free limo service to/from the AP. I'm just sayin' . . .
Start looking for cheap seats on SWA and get 'er done!!
PS: Looks like I'll be in San Diego around 2/25. Details to follow. Hook up?

Alan G, you know the guy that did Borat? Well he also did 'Da Ali G Show on I think HBO, sorry for obscure references. I guess I should be fired for making them, just like Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football!
Did anyone say beer? I am planning on bringing kegs and CO2 this year, and of course a tap. You'll all have to supply your own gas cans!

Carlisle! Yay!
I'm getting excited to see all the SOC folks again!
Have we done a shirt yet? I'd be happy to get on top of that! I have a great embroidery-lady who does really nice stuff. Maybe we should do wind-breakers or ponchos though!
I'm totally on top of the SWAG thing!

Kelly - I've marked my calendar for Feb 25. We'll hook-up while you're in San Diego and discuss my tentative Carlisle plans. Thanks for the generous offer of your hospitality (and another ride in your bad-ass Speedy)!!
Peace - Out!
Peace - Out!
Lane and Leon,
I'll met ya'll at Statesville. Let me know were? Leon said something about a rest area there or near the intersection of I-40 and I-77. Let me know.

Hey Teresa....I have a shirt you can get on top of....
Aaron - I'll let Leon pick the meeting spot. I think he's studied that road a bit more than me.
BERT - We've talked about sweatshirts, jackets, etc. as an alternative to T-shirts, although nothing's been finalized. Talk to Gordon when he's back from Daytona.

Matt and I will have to make it two in a row. See you all there!

Howard and Matt (his son) are cool people -but be sure to checkout the outrageously nice Speedster he and Matt are cruising in!
Angela , the feeling is mutual! jim, it will be good to hook up with all of you once again. La Bomba has been up on my lift for a good part of the winter. Can't wait till the spring comes. The car is sorted out pretty well, but Im still experimenting with outboard CV boots that wont tear. Henry sent me some , but have yet to replace them. No matter, It will be good to hang out.

Hey everybody, occasional poster and long-time lurker here.
My wife and I are planning to make the trip from the Toronto, Ontario area to Carlisle this year. I've wanted to go ever since my Bradley GT days back around 1999 and 2000. We just built up our CMC last year and have only 1500km on it. Looking forward to the drive down and back.
Actually we have a VW Westfalia too. Likely won't bring it along, but there is a large camping event going on 1.5 hours away from Carlisle called Granny Grose's Buses (www.grannygrosesbuses.com). We'll be camping there with friends...
Question is, what's the best day or days to be at Carlisle? I'm assuming Saturday? What other events can't be missed? We're trying to plan whether to just drop in on the Saturday or if we should show up Friday night, stay over, then head north to camp Saturday..
Any thoughts / comments appreciated...

You will NOT regret the trip to Carlisle to meet the SOC guys/gals - nicest car bunch I've ever met!
However, if you do go to Carlisle, run away if you see this guy...

Bill the Southeast caravan will be heading up I-81 from Christiansburg after breakfast on Thursday, 5/14. We have been stopping for lunch at the Shoneys in Hagerstown MD and then driving the final leg together with anybody who meets us there. We had a good group last year. Hope you can join us.

I'm going to feed that guy a couple of good drinks, and then take his wife shoe shopping.
Just wish he'd quit playing with his nipples at the dinner table...

Gerd - a bunch of us are going! Meet us at the Topanga Ranch Inn!
ALL RIGHT!!!! GERD'S A' COMIN'!!!!!!!!!
Gerd's not coming, He's just breathing hard....
Some questions for you guys...
Looking through this thread I'm finding it hard to summarize...is there any place where there is a full itinerary of the goings on?
IF I were to get my car ready on time and IF I could beat the ice bridge going out in April and therefore ship it south to my place in Niagara...how far is Carlisle from there?
Money's getting tight everywhere....what does this event normally cost folks? (ballpark)
Wife is so so on cars. Took her to Monterey twice and Pebble Beach once and she handled it but to sit around for 2 or 3 days with a bunch of car nuts...I dunno. What else to do?
Thanks all. The timings not bad with work this year and kite skiing on the ice is almost done by mid-May. Still, lots of work to do on the car though and I'm not too hopeful.
