We'll also be recognizing the long-distance owners with the following awards:

Longest Distance Driven - Speedster

Longest Distance Trailered - Speedster

Longest Distance Driven - Spyder

To be given out at the Saturday night dinner.

Folks, Carlisle is THE BEST replica/kit car event on the east coast.
This is the fourth year for the Speedster/Spyder meet and is a MUST for anyone interested - turnout has been upwards of 60 Speedsters over the weekend. Come out and be part of the event!

ECB

Gordon,
I am donating a set of my Luggage Straps for the Saturday raffle/club benefit. Please tell folks that Special Edition (Carey/Kevin Hines) are an East Coast outlet for these if they want any.

Send me an email (or phone) with your address so I can UPS these out to you.

I am sure everyone will have a great time, as usual, at Carlisle. Sorry I am going to miss it this year.

Happy Trails,
Dusty

Brian:

Also try Googling "Hotels near Carlisle, PA" and see what pops up. There are a LOT of hotels around there for the Summer car show crowd and for the truckers (it's a truck in-transit hub there, too), and even if you stay in Hershey, you're only something like 20 minutes away. The Holiday Inn is just across the street, there's a Hampton just down the street, and a few more along the main drag that I've forgotton the names of.

Good luck and keep us posted - worst comes to worse, you can camp out with an air mattress and sleeping bag in someone's room.

Gordon
Put me on the list for a room on Friday and Sat night as well if anyone cancels out- I kept putting it off because I was not sure if I could meet the group going north on Thursday. I will be going up by myself on Friday ( hopefully w/ one of my boys riding shotgun ) and leaving Sunday morning.
Brian: If you find another place close by let me know as well
Thanks, Dale

Ramada Limited, Carlisle Update!!!!

Just got off the phone with the new Asst. GM at the hotel, and they will be providing us with a hospitality room for each evening. We will take over the breakfast area, which will be partitioned off from the rest of the lobby area by dividers (although it is a larger area than a conference room).

Asked about any additional rooms, and, as of 5pm today, they had a couple open up. If you don't get one, they will put your name on a waiting list if you wish, and contact you if anything comes up.

Ask for Anita, the new Asst. General Manager (very nice lady, too)
Yeah, Bruce....last time we were there they kept "shooing" us away from every place we tried to congregate. Felt like I was back in Boston during the anti-war riots of '69!! Even having a "polite conversation" with the Manager didn't help - we still felt like second-class citizens and I told him so. Maybe us not showing up last year said something, but with him, I wonder...

THIS year, we've got the vast majority of the rooms at the hotel, AND a new General Manager and Asst. GM, and they're trying hard to take much better care of us.

I still remember carrying two coolers and three cases of beer up those stairs to the third floor.....whew!
Tom, the most important thing is to bring beer money. Since you're getting the coupe at the show, you're supposed to supply all of the beer for all of us. We mostly like imports and microbrews ;-)

Seriously, if you plan to drive the car home (I don't know how far that is for you) you should peruse past threads about tools, etc. that the brain trust here recommends for Speedster travel. While I fully expect your car to be an absolute joy, it is a newly built, handmade car, and you might have a teething issue or two. If you're trailoring it home, just bring the beer money.
Sorry, but motorized Bar stools are not up to the task.

What'cha need is one of THESE babies!!

http://www.coolerscooterdirect.com/cooler%20scooter%20general%20views.html

As Lane said, Micro brews are the preferred libation. None of that Genesee or Rolling Rock stuff, either, and forget any Yuengling (isn't that one of those Chinese beers??)

We'll be bringing some Wachusett Ale and some Magic Hat (from Vermont) and maybe I'll throw in some Murphy's Irish Stout, in honor of my Jack Russell (That's Murphy's full name)

Wonder if you can get a motorized cooler with a rain hood?
I just knew I was gonna like you guys more in person!

I'm bringin' some Guiness. Maybe something else too. Depends on what fits in the speedy.

Haven't figured out how I'm getting the Coupe home. I have a ratty old car trailer. But I'm planning on driving the speedy out there so I need to arrange another driver for the truck & trailer or to drive one of my baby's home. It's less than a 2 hour trip.

Beer, Beer money & more beer . . . I can definately do that!!!!

Sure.....C'mon along. Most of the people waving at us from the side of the road probably wouldn't know an Alpha from a Speedster, anyway!!

If you wish, you can bring along the Alpha, register it as part of the "Speedster/Spyder Group" with the Carlisle folks (so we get the show count of another car for the group), and then park it with either us or the ALpha folks as part of the Import show - up to you.

Gordon
You wish.....

Nope, this year's organizer decided, ad hoc, to offer Tee-Shirts with that very same logo you see displayed on the SOC home page. The car badges last year were a one-time, 2006 only thing, unless we're pressured mightily to do one for 2008 or something.

There should be a very few of the 2006 car badges available for sale at the tent at the show this year. First come, First served.

BTW: Last year's Carlisle badge was a true Global effort: Artwork designed in Canada, electronically forwarded through Rhode Island to a badge firm in Minnesota, who had enameling templates (tooling) made in Scotland and wired to Tailand to be made and then sent to Mainland China to have the badges fabricated with specific inks formulated in Australia. Then the finished product was delivered to Rhode Island and thence to Carlisle.

Whew!
