Jack, thanks for the heads up. Sorry to hear Alice can't make it year - seems like we have alot of right-seaters coming this year - but good to hear Russ is cruising in with the 911.
David----I know. Francine can do some shopping when you guys are here in Hot Springs with us on the our to Carlisle! There will be no shortage of shopping gals at Carlisle either.
I just got off the phone with Alan, here's the latest:
Thursday night:
20 rooms have been reserved, the block was bumped to 25 so 5 are still available in the block.
Friday night:
34 rooms have been reserved, 6 are still available in the block.
There are only 16 rooms left in the entire hotel beyond our block of 40.
Saturday night:
32 rooms have been reserved, 8 are still available in the block.
There are NO MORE rooms available in the entire hotel beyond our block of 40!
If you are coming to Carlisle, NOW is the time to make your reservations. As you can see by the lack of rooms Saturday night other people are booking rooms for the weekend. We did not increase the Friday night block because we believed people would not want to be jumping between hotels. Obviously, when the rooms are filled you will need to find alternate accommodations at several of the other hotels nearby.

Just made my reservation. Was told Thursday is gone for the group, but request was made at group sales to keep the rate down. Better hurry, all, I didn't realize February was late to make the call!!!!
If anyone calls for a Thursday or Friday reservation and is told the block is full, let Alan and I know ASAP. We may be able to add rooms for Thursday and Friday but we can't add any more for Saturday.
Do Not wait till it's too late Reserve Now or for shelter you'll be snapping two poncho halves together, digging a trench around your new found accommodations and eating Spam....
Don't knock the Spam ...

I finally got off my duff and called today. Danny told me they were getting light on rooms, so I bit the bullet. We're in for all three nights.
They have four rooms left for Thursday, two for Friday and two for Saturday. If you're on the fence, hop off it now ...

Whew. Thanks, Cory. We just grabbed a Friday and Saturday room. Yeah, Danny, I didn't know either. When I wrote in my column that you guys keep showing up earlier every year, I thought I was kidding.

Yeah, I was sitting out in the rain the other day at the gate, wanting to get in. Thought I saw some guys around a bonfire inside.
Lane, was he asking for old bicycle tires?

There was a guy with a red Fiero nosing around, from what the lady on the phone told me. He was looking for firewood and a match. Said he had dreams about a Speedster with infinite carburetor delays ...
You guys kill me.
Suck it up Max, any guy that burns bicycle tires to get warm, feeds little ants booze, and writes about Geraldine should know people will notice. Now what words of whimsical do we have to look forward to?

Who knows what evil lurks in the dark shadows around the Carlisle fairgrounds in the winter? da Zimmer knows . . .
Inebriating a couple of ants wasn't my proudest moment, Nolan. But Geraldine happened. For real. There's video. I'm just the messenger.
VIDEO??? Max---which night will we get to see the video??
--Loved the editorials in the latest Kit Car Magazine! Drunk ants indeed.

I guess I shouldn't talk about getting ants drunk, I once got my mother-in-law's cat drunk. I poured a glass of Merrydown (a very potent English apple cider) into the cat's dish of milk. The milk curdled within a minute, the cat came over and began eating the curds. When it finished, the cat staggered out from under the table and walked straight into the wall and fell over on it's side. Hoping I hadn't killed it I hide the cat in another room before my wife's mother could see it. Luckily the cat came out of it without any permanent brain damage but it would never come near me again.

The videos were all erased at my request. They were, right? Geraldine will not be making a return visit to Carlisle 2012, but wanted to make an appearance in a little bistro in the D.R. Killer didn't come up with the jack to take her so she stayed home and sulked. And bought a new dress. A couple of other guests have been invited for the midnight show Saturday, but they have not committed yet.
Hell John..... I should have been commited years ago.... ;-)
Enough Tullamore Dew and the Obnoxious Radio Guy might show up.
Kelly, what da Zimmer knows is you never leave the hospitality suite before midnight. Nolan, if I put into print what I've done to cats, PETA would hack me up and torch my house. Jack, thanks. Next issue: drunk ants naked. Hoss, come on. Obnoxious Radio Guy will be there. Lucille. Happy Indian Guy. Geraldine's gotta show. I'll buy the dress. You can loan her your hat.
And it's only February............

Yeah it's only February, but we only have 10 more months from today to live, so we gotta get our craziness in fast.
ECB, your comment made with your usual understated style. Class man, class.
I think I know what you mean Max, when I was in Thailand I fell in love with Siamese cats; they taste like chicken!

I wouldn't know, Nolan. I've never had chicken.
Just as everyone warned, there are "a couple" of rooms left for Thurs-Friday, but Saturday is now fully booked, not just for the SOG, but for the entire hotel.
Remember that this is also college and high school graduation weekend so rooms are at a premium in the area.

There are a number of hotels nearby. If anyone makes reservations please report back so others can do the same.
Ok, since I was late to the dance at the Marriot Courtyard, I got in at the Country Inn just down the street at 4943 Gettysburg Road. Phone 717-796-0300
There are a couple more hotels somewhat close, but they're on the other side of I-81 (Hampton Inn and a Hilton) and I figured the Country Inn would be a little more convenient.

We now have a block of 10 rooms reserved at the Park Inn in Mechanicsburg at a reduced rate and can add more if needed. Just call 866-539-0036 and tell them you're with the "Speedster Owners Group". This hotel is not far from the Holiday Inn and is about the same distance from Carlisle.
