Jim years ago I had a small sailboat named "BLOW ME"
Before cell phones we had only ship to shore radio telephone operators who would radio the particular vessel : wsx9696 the.vessel bl.. me....I can only imagine that operators red face
Attention you Southeast Caravan guys,
I received an RSVP from Stuart Hilliard. He came to Carlisle for the first time last year. He is waiting for his SAS to be built but is trailering his MG from Denton,Texas. So he might be intereted in caravaning with you characters. I sent this thread URL to him so you might be hearing from him.

Thanks, Bruce. Hopefully we'll hear from him.
Lane - what the heck is "Palmetto Moonshine" - saw a billboard on 95 northbound the other day.
Paul
Palmetto Moonshine is South Carolinian's first 'legal' moonshine. Many states and distilleries are taking advantage of the recent interest in high octane spirits.

Yeah, what he said.
Greetings! Amy and I are excited about making the trip again this year. I still don't have my SAS yet (no surprise), but we will be trailering up our 1960 MGA. I'm not sure yet what day we will get out of town here, but we would like to catch up with the group in either Knoxville or Christiansburg. Looks like I will also need to bring along one or two Texas themed alcoholic beverages. I am partial to Tito's Vodka, but there is also Shiner Bock and of course Lone Star!
I lived in Houston from 1978 through 1981. I never developed a taste for Lone Star, but I did kinda like the Shiner Bock. I should bring some Palmetto Espresso Porter as well.
Welcome to our little slice of the Madness. We should be gathering for lunch in Knoxville on Wednesday, May 14th, and then driving up to Christiansburg. Not sure where we'll meet in the Knoxville area yet. I'll leave that to one of the locals.
I can't wait to see the MGA. I have been a die-hard MG fan since high school.
Lunch on Wednesday 5/14 will be in Bristol, TN?VA. Your luncheon planner is Hoss, John Hallstrand.
Hey Sturat,
Great to see you hooking up with the southern caravan, should add to the fun of the trip. I lived in San Antonio from '66 to '70 (Witchita Falls for a few months too), nothing wrong with Lone Star beer.
Cant wait to see the MGA I had one way back when....
In 1960, while stationed at Lackland AFB. Ye Olde Lone Star did a number on my 17 year old head..... Grunts being Grunts, someone yelled "TENHUT" while I rested in my bunk and the next thing I knew the floor came up and kissed me....
Just wanted to get an early list of possible participants. I will be joining Tom Raymond at his place on Tuesday the 13th. He and I will meet the rest of the SE caravan in Bristol for lunch on Wednesday. I am assuming Hoss, Jack, and others. Anybody want to commit? You coming this year, Leon?
Things are looking good enough that I may attend the event as a "single".....
Watch out, ladies! Leon's on the prowl!!!
Hello All. I'm new and just bought a Special Edition Beck 356. I would like to join up with Southeast Caravan for my first trip to Carlisle. Look forward to meeting you all!
Good to hear Ron. Don't forget, our motto is " Drive 'em, trailer 'em, tow 'em, but get 'em there somehow!"
Welcome to the Southeast Madness, Ron. Where are you coming from?
So far the Southeast Caravan includes:
- Me
- John Hallstrand (and Sarah?)
- Tom Raymond (and Cindy?)
- Leon Chupp
- Jack Crosby (and Alice?)
- Ron Mullis (and?)
- Stuart Hilliard (and?)
Hey Jack, is your son joining us again this year?
We live in Ellijay, GA. That is about an hour NNW of Atlanta, about 30 mins. from NC border. It will be easy to hook up with the caravan.
Excellent! I assume that you will meet us for lunch in Bristol on the 14th? You might even be able to caravan from north GA with Leon Chupp.
Hi Lane---yes, Russ and his son Sean are meeting us in Hagerstown for lunch. They're driving Russ' 911. Do we have a motel picked out for lunch in Hagerstown? I believe I read that Shoney's has closed. Also Alice is riding with me this year. We'll swing by Arlington, VA after Carlisle to see the daughter's family then drive home to Hot Springs.
Also---has it been decided where the group will stay at Christiansburg, VA? I told Leon I thought it was the Fairfield Inn accross from Cracker Barrel. I like the Fairgield Inn much better than the Holiday In Express.
For me the Carlisle trip starts Tuesday, 5/13 with a drive from Hot Springs, AR to Knoxville,TN.
A few of us stay near Knoxville at the Hampton Inn, at 585 Fort Loudon Medical Center, Lenoir City, YN (865/988-2000). This is close to John Hallstrand's home so it's a good place to hook up for the next day's mid-morning start caravan to Christiansburg. I just reserved a room at the Fairfield Inn in Christiansburg. (2659 Roanoke Street, 540/381-9596) The AAA rate is $119.
On the way from Lenoir City to C'burg we'll have lunch at the Manhattan Grill at 212 Euclid Ave in Bristol TN/VA
Next---I just scored two reproduction VASEK POLAK, HERMOSA BEACH license plate frames. One is going on my Speedster and I'll put the other one in the Carlisle raffle. (There is a very beat up real one on Ebay today at a buy-it-now-price of $250.00)
Lane, Nolan and Jan will be with us. Sarah and Jan are driving in the Mustang so they will travel in style and comfort and have a car for day trips other than to the fun field.
Jack, roger on Christiansburg's Fairfield Inn and dinner in Lenoir City. We are looking forward to seeing you and Alice. It won't be long. Wooo Hooo!
Will Alan let us know what the rendezvous location should be in Hagerstown or points north???
I will check in with the restaurant in Bristol before drive day so we don't have a repeat of last year's disappointment.
We're at the Fairfield. I kinda liked the Holiday Inn Express better, mostly because it was newer and they gave us roped-off parking, but the Fairfield location is more convenient.
Still waiting to hear about a Southern Caravan - B'more/DC meeting place on Thurs near Hagerstown. Yo, Merklin!! what's the skinny??
You gettin' excited too, John?
Just a like a bunch of kids waiting for Christmas morning...
Cracker Barrel same as we did last year route 81 exit 14 Chambersburg Pennsylvania
Hopefully we'll actually get to eat this time instead of fix Cory's clutch cable.
Lane I had the same thought
I'm packing a spare throttle cable, Lane.... :-)
Who is bringing the replacements this year? Since Gordon had one for me last year and he is doing something else this year.. Don't pick on Cory too much since he helped change mine in Harrisburg.

Don't look like eatin' lunch to me. Hrumph!
Lane ..... Give us an estimated meeting time for Barrel of Crack ( It's 23 minutes further north on RT 81 from the former Hagerstown, MD Shoney's )
Hmmm... If my (admittedly foggy) memory serves me, we usually arrive around late lunch - say one-ish. Anybody got a better time?
We can call you when we leave Christiansburg.
I'm having problems securing a room for May 15 in Christiansburg..... May have to stop somewhere further south or north.... Would you believe (2) schools are having graduation ceremonies at the same time in the same general area????
I'm starting a new volume of "The Unabridged Sailor's Dictionary"....
