Yea Leon, we got skunked a couple of years ago with prom night.  That's how we wound up in the Holiday Inn on the to Carlisle leg of the trip.

It's an approximately five hour drive from Christiansburg to the old meeting place in Hagerstown, so let's call it five and a half to be on the safe side; this includes a gas fill up in Harrisonburg, if I remember Jack's notes correctly.  If we left at 7:30, we could make it by 1:00 PM.  Does that sound OK?

Christiansburg is Wednesday night, 5/14.

Leon--the Christiansburg stop is not the 15th----it's Wednesday the 14th.

I believe most of us are staying at the Fairfield but we have used the Holiday Inn Express not far away in the past.  Give that a try.  I am sure that there are some "singles" with our group and maybe you could bunk in with them?

HGi Phil---we will be going from Carlisle to Arlington, VA anbd would definitely enjoy caravaning with you.  That route looks fine to me too.

We usually roll out of Carlisle mid tyo late morning after brunch there at the Marriott and at the time the traffic is very light.

I know that Todd Rl-Tehir also lives in the Washington area and maybe he will join us.  Todd?

We'll get this organized at Carlisle.  Thanks for the idea.

Noon should be pretty close to the mark plus or minus a few.  Nolan, Jack and I will be pulling out of Lenoir City around ten-ish and it's about two hours to the Brooklyn Grill in Bristol, VA.  It's the first exit on I-81 in Virginia coming from the south.  I plan on giving them a call before drive day to make certain that they will be open.

A possible diversion immediately after lunch in Bristol on 5/14: For those of you whom have not seen it, Bristol Motor Speedway is quite a site. Located about 3 miles from the Brooklyn Grill, I would be happy to lead the procession by there, prior to turning north to Christiansburg. I took Lane by there last year.

Thoughts ?

Arrival time at the Brooklyn Grill, barring anything unforeseen, will probably be closer to 12:30 PM.  Coming from the south, it's the first exit on route I-81 after crossing the Tennessee-Virginia line.  We missed it once didn't we Jack?  After exiting, you follow the road into town.  The road forks at a signal light and you take the left fork.  The grill is located on the left just past a, ummm, Shell station I think.  Google the address and set your GPS if you feel the need.  It's pretty hard to miss though.

I broke down and did the clay bar thing for the first time.  You know, I think it really made a difference.  The finish is really smooth and looks pretty good too. The Red man is running pretty well and we're looking forward to next week.  It's going to be another stellar event.  The no-rain dance continues....
