I am a first timer to the Carlisle event. Can someone give me a run down to what is offered during this event by the show promoter? Is there 1/4 mile runs available? An autocross type course? I cant seem to find a place online that gives this type of info. and scheduled times they occur. I have only seen short video clips form years past. Thanks in advance for replies.
IaM-Ray posted:Any news on @Stan Galat making it to Carlisle this year I mean there are 70 ... do I hear 71
Even AL made it back, none holyer than AL. Stan can you hear us in Stanisland
As I’ve mentioned (nearly every year)- this is the busy time of year with work. We’re swamped right now.
In addition, this year my daughter is due with her 3rd child, well, any day now (Jeanie is on her way back to Denver as I type).
It’d take some pretty fancy footwork to go 10 hrs in the opposite direction for a car show.
Jimmy go to Carlisle Productions and bring up the Import show all info is there , yes auto cross paved track and a lot more
Got the tools and cleaning supplies loaded and yes I am packing 2 quarts of oil.

Two should be good
@Stan Galat well you can’t blame a guy for trying to encourage you to come
But family comes first
Joe, I’ll have ti double check, but something like 2-3ish, then bolting to 80 and across Indiana, Ohio and bedding down at Hyatt Place Cranberry Township for the night. I kinda figure we might no get to the PA stop until 10ish, maybe later. But we’ll be all bright-eyed and bushy tailed for a sunny Thursday 3 hour drive to Shippensburg.
Wanna hook up somewher, or are you getting out earlier? If so, we’ll keep an eye out for ya.👀
All the Carlisle banquet folks are paid. Thanks all for ponying up.
WTF? No deluge forecasted for Carlisle? Well my liver is happy that it won’t be enduring the abuse it’s become accustomed to.
See you all there!

The local SCCA chapter usually runs a short autocross course, consisting of two 180 degree turns(one is decreasing radius) and a couple chicanes in-between. They give you three three-lap-at-a-time runs. Flying start.
There are also burnout and loud exhaust competitions for the "tuner-oriented" crowd that this event has become.
No drags, but interestingly enough, the limbo competition is usually won by a Spyder.
Thank you Danny P ! Thank is the info. I was looking for. Does any of our club do the autocross?
@Jimmy V. here ya go.

Looking good people! I'm getting psyched for this.
I’m trying to see if I can arrive on Wednesday since i am the entire southern caravan this year. Unfortunately all of the available rooms are been held by groups, so I have to check back tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll see y’all around dinner time Wednesday.

Thanks Musbjim for the Autocross clip very nice. I had a Beck Spyder 10 years ago that I auto crossed some. It had a 2387 engine with super flow heads. Still not as fast as my 914 with a 2.4L type 4 engine.

Two things;
First Alice and I welcome anyone who would like to join us to caravan to Shippensburg. We launch Wednesday (5/15) from Hot Springs, AR to Knoxville, TN via I-40 for 581 miles. Then Thursday, from Knoxville, to Shippensburg via I-40 and I-81 for 540 miles. We can meet anyone along these highways.
Second, because of premature wear of wheel bearings and ball joints I am reducing the amount and weight of supplies I will be carrying on this trip. I have attached a list of supplies I will be taking and anyone is welcome to borrow anything on the list. Sorry to not have the line borer and I know that will cause some disappointment and I'm sorry for that.
We can't wait to see everyone!

That's a very well thought out list and I can attest to it's real time value. I blew a throttle cable once caravanning with Jack and the group I think in Christiansburg out for dinner. Jury rigged a temporary fix and got back to the hotel. Jack donated the replacement cable and Lane Anderson assisted doing most of the install. Happy days like it never really happened. I now carry most of what Jack has on his list.
Thanks again Jack and Lane.
These PCs are, by and large, old tech. Ops are run via cables. Carry spares or walk the rest of the way. One thing you will not need is antifreeze ;-), but an extra fan belt is also a must. Plus several towels.

Alan, do you happen to know the offset of the wheels....and more to the point, if they have the right offset for a Beck Spyder. I could use the spares but if they don't fit, it's a waste of money. My guess is they don't fit and I don't know anyone who can make it right.
Chris give Carey Hines a shout and ask him. Tell him these are narrow 4 bold VW Beetle stock chrome rims he will know for sure.
Assuming that the bags are packed, tools sorted, can of Flat Fix, detail spray, a few clean rags, blue and duct tape too..... Enjoy the ride and flights... be safe all ~
Me, I got tags and insurance today ...showers here today and tomorrow so I will probably have almost zero miles on the Speedster when it arrives hooked to a tow bar at the hotel Wednesday afternoon...Faith will play a role this weekend.
We're off Tuesday AM as early as possible. We're also expecting a Nor'easter, I guess.
It's only expected to snow in the higher elevations . We're going through the Berkshires, the Catskills, and the Poconos . We should be fine, right? Right??
Sea Y'all there Wednesday.

You got it Marty.

Chris, if they are 4.5" they are probably going to work, but if they are 5.5" they might not. One look and we can tell in the flesh. Just bring a tape measure to measure offset/backspacing.

Seriously? We go whatever the weather. Worst case scenario(last year) we all drove our daily drivers, left the cute little cars home.
I checked the forecast and it doesn't look as bad as last year at all. A shower won't hurt anyone. Cleanliness is good
