Txs Alan -- hope you can keep the number of rooms in the bloc ahead of the wave. Looks like momentum is building.
I want to fulfill the room block of 35 ASAP aka this week, so that I can " questimate " how many additional room to add to the block THANKS !
Charity just confirmed our room...
Now who is running the Eastern Corridor when? Maybe we can catch up with some of yall on the way up. Looks like a 12 plus hour run for us.
Depends on your route, Richard. IIRC you guys are in southern Mississippi, right? A few folks from the mid-south area are converging on Christiansburg, VA on Wednesday via I-40 and I-81. I will be coming up I-26 to I-77 to I-81 and meeting them in Christiansburg. We'll caravan up I-81 to Shippensburg on Thursday. You are more than welcome to join us.
@Richard Pascale Look forward to seeing you, it's one big family reunion minus the family drama~
so when I hit the airport in Harrisburg what do I do?

Just lay there. The fire truck will come and get you off the tarmac.
HBR is 1hr. 10 min from the hotel.... rent a car from the airport. MUSBJIM and Ginny usually fly into BWI in Maryland. Connie and I are also coming in later on Wednesday. Al and Heidi Gallo usually arrive a day early too.
Anyone else…... arriving on Wednesday afternoon to get things started early ?

We are coming North from the Florida House in Jacksonville looks like straight up I95...
There are a number of ways my first preference is 95N to Fredricksburg VA ( exit 133A) cutting across on RT 17 to merge onto Rt 66W to Rt 81N into PA.
RT 95 to Rt 66W to RT 81N into PA
RT 95 to Rt 495 to RT 66W to Rt 81N into PA
RT 95 to RT 495W to RT 270 to RT 70W to Rt 81N into PA
( Looking at a map RT 95 to RT64 W to RT 81 N looks good but it is out of the way to run across RTW 64 then Rt 81N)
I think GERD is fishing for a pick-up. Anybody possible to fetch him? MUSBJIM, Ginny and Cuzin' Vinny going to be is same boat, perhaps, at different times. Otherwise I guess its Lyft or Uber. I'm not riding up until Thurs, looking fwd to lunch somewheres in around Shippensburg. Lane: when do you SE folks think you'l be on station?? Alan: where would be a good lunch spot??
Hopefully something can be arranged for our West Coast friends. I'd volunteer, but it's crowded in the back of a Speedster.

Alan's first pick above is our typical route in either direction and we've done that one many times. Another easy one is to get take 95N and South of Santee, SC get on 26 up to Columbia then 76 and slide up past Charlotte to catch 81N a bit South of Christiansburg.
David - It’s 77, not 76. The 26-77-81 route is the one I take.

Yep...I stand corrected. I figured that might be close to your route and it affords an approach to the Blue Ridge Parkway too which remains on my "list" .
@GERD: I would pick you up but we are towing with a single cab F150 and stopping at my old neighborhood so I have no idea as to when we'll get in at the hotel.
Southern Caravan: Cracker Barrell at RT81 exit 14 the last couple of years but I recommend you continue 3 miles and get off at exit 17 and hang a left. There is Olive Garden, TGIFriday's, LongHorn Steak House, Buffalo Wings, Panera Bread,..... MY choice is Jersey Mike's subs they have the absolute best New York style subs ( #13 is my favorite)
Hmmm... Friday’s sounds promising. We should be there around the usual time, which I seem to recall is around 1:00-ish.

David---I once drove my BMW R-80 all the way down the Blue Ridge Parkway from Front Royal, outside if Washington, DC to Roanoke, VA. The speed limit was only 35-40 mph and it took absolutely forever to get through it. Other places in the Blue Ridge Mountains are just as beautiful ---I wouldn't get up on that stretch of road ever again. I was driving to Charlotte and finally got there like 10-11 pm. Rotten trip.
Thanks for let us know Jack... nothing like making a detour and having to take another day to get there

Let's talk about alternatives at Carlisle, Jack. Thanks for the heads up.
Every time we head to the Outer Banks after Carlisle, I have been tempted to go along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but looking at the speed limit, and the distance, I've always decided not to try it. Now I know I won't.

Becky and I rode Skyline Drive from Front Royal also, speed limit is 35 for 105 miles, then we picked up the Blue Ridge and rode it thru to Cherokee. The Blue Ridge itself has a speed limit of 45. If you map it out and plan for the slower speed it is one of the most incredible rides in the country.
Also when mapping look up the side roads like the Rattler, hwy 28 and others that you can stretch your wings on so to speak.
The parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway we did last fall were certainly not covered at 45 mph. And the Rattler, and TOD. There are roads in Virginia though that are worth it. I'm sure Phil Luebbert will chime in here, he knows most of them.
Front Royal is a quaint little town. Make sure you check out the caverns in that area.
@Alan Merklin, when you get a room count from the hotel for the dinner do they tell you how many people per room?
Mike, no I just get an actual room count. I assume that if someone wanted to get a rollaway they could but you'd have to check with the hotel.
@Alan Merklin, it would seem then that you don't have an accurate count for the Thursday dinner. My room will have two people. Others may have one person. It is not an issue about a rollaway for me and I assume most or all others. That is a different issue. I was concerned only with the count for the Thursday dinner.
@Michael McKelvey I just get a room count update each Monday ( 31 rooms are reserved to date) ... For the purpose of food quantity for the BBQ Buffet the hotel figures two per room. Thursday check in, you'll confirm the number of persons in your room and the BBQ Buffet will be added to your room Folio.
@Alan Merklin, I wasn't questioning if the hotel knows the number of guests. I wondered if it was getting reported to you or if you were just getting the number of rooms.
I'll give Alan the final count via the RSVP forms people send.
