The trailer guys could sleep in their tow vehicles in the hotel parking lot and bum showers from the paying guests. If I was dragging an enclosed car-hauler, I'd absolutely do it. Roll out a memory-foam mattress in the back, and Bob's your uncle.

I tell my kids all I need is an extension cord and a garden hose, and I'm set for a couple of weeks at least.

Well, hey, it smells so nice nobody would even know if we crapped right there in the grass on the edge of the parking lot! I'm in.

Showfield tent, tables and folding chairs are ordered.

Aside from the many entertaining activities on the showfield itself—which include auto-crossing and a "low car limbo" which Spyders tend to win when entered—I will be supplying two self-guided twisty-road/scenic overlook/winery/covered bridge/pub/lunch tours for our members to drive solo or in groups at their own leisure.

Both are about 100 miles and will take 2-3 hours of drive time on nice roads.

That's a good idea, Ed.  Those who want to sit and drink beer can do so, and those who want to have an interesting run and drink wine can do so.

Good thinking to all the organizers.

I'd like to hear Michelle's reaction when you tell her about the new money saving plan for Carlisle now that you're retired. Make sure to mention using the car wash hose for showers after dark.

Michelle is as low-maintenance as they come. She likes to camp. Your point Al?

Relax dude. Al's not trying to offend you or Michelle. He's just laying some humor down. If you read Stan's post he's talking about trailer guys sleeping in the tow vehicles bumming showers and you're talking about crapping on the edge of the grass area so Al is just jokingly asking if you had told your wife about the camping plans.

The second time Chris and I worked at the Rolex race, I was determined to get at least some sleep in the middle of the night.  So, I bought a big air mattress that would fit between the rear wheel wells in my pickup, and a 12volt air pump to pump it up.  The truck already had a cap, so I also got a sleeping bag with the thought that we could drive under the grandstand and park and either of us could scoot down there from the grandstand roof and get a few winks on our off-shift in the middle of the night.

It was a great idea, except for one thing:  There is so much noise coming from the cars racing down the front stretch at 180+mph and then braking for the turn into the infield that you really can't sleep.  I tossed and turned for over an hour and finally gave up and went back to the roof, but along the way I stopped at the grandstand kitchen on level two and talked them into nuking a couple bowls of chicken noodle soup I brought to take up to the roof.  The head chef was hesitant until he asked which car we were spotting for and when I told him he looked at the race monitor and found we were currently in first place in GT (we ultimately came in second).  Once he saw that he nuked the soup and also gave us a hefty supply of Naan bread to go along with it!

Don't worry, Robert, I'm just givin' it to him, and he knows it. The little smiley face- I'm just being a smart a** and again, he knows it. He'll shoulder punch me at Carlisle, I'll hit him back, we'll laugh and then open beers.. (and if I play my cards right I'll be drinking his beer!)

Hey but everybody else not registered...REGISTER! Lets get planning those valve cover racers too. Still waiting on the final OK from Buckzeski but I think we'll get clearance.

Also: pretty sure Cory and Jenni are gonna get there but I will bug them this weekend.

Buckzeski is a cool guy. I gave him a soft blast back in 2011for not having a long distance award for those driving to Carlisle. He recognized the error of his ways and sent us a nice " Longest Driven " plaque and a coplimentry IPad. I didn't need the IPad and gave it away. Two weeks later he sent a second one. I'm typing on it now.
