Some Pic's from Friday at Carlisle. I could only go one day. Thursday and Friday's weather was great. Today Saturday looks great too.

I got my temporary CB crank pulley on in time to drive up about 2.5 hours but halfway there I started smelling oil. Crap! the engine compartment and on top of the exhaust was getting sprayed with oil!  I worried about it but with encouragement from Syl I continued on while keeping an eye on the oil level etc. Got there and back home with no issue except the mess and the loss of some oil. Carey had my new crank and AC pulley combo ready for me and will talk to CB to see what they do to help prevent oil being thrown out the crank. May need some sort of high temp silicone or a sand seal. Will deal with it later.

Home from Carlisle !

Great to see old and new friends and their rides.

Our project #36 performed beyond our expectations with only a minor carb and door latch adjustments. Now with 236 miles on it with 30 mpg and.... the car ran flawlessly!

Hotel was beautiful and the service staff was out standing. Dinner was without concerns and the raffle was fun with many great donations! THAT YOU BRUCE AND NORMA FOR ANOTHER OUTSTANDING JOB!

Mark your calendars for 2016, only 362 days to go!

Thanks to all for a nice time.  Thank you Alan Merklin (and Connie) for your help with the car and your continued friendship and understanding.

Looking forward to next year and all the adventures between now and then.   Different car ? same car with sorting who knows but I want all of you to know I deeply appreciate the efforts made on my behalf.  No real consensus was reached on the transmission but I made contacts with people who will be able to resolve the issues for certain.   Very worth while experience for me.

Sorry I wasn't able to participate in some of the socializing.    I have some issues with sleeping and I can't hear in environments like the meeting room there at the Marriott.   Again thanks each and every one of you.

Great seeing you all. Got home safe after stopping once to disconnect the horn. Remember I was saying the horn works in the morning and dies in the afternoon? Well, BOY DID IT START WORKING RIGHT ABOUT NOON TODAY. No horn button needed!

Ah well. Safe travels to all and thanks for all the help with my car's various foibles.

I did not eat any cones on the auto-X, like a certain MG driver I know did, but I did pick up some kind of gremlin out on that course.  Going in, the car was running nicely, and somewhere on the last set of laps I developed a miss, and then the carbs overheated after i was finished and parked, and car needed a jump-start to beat the rain storm. (HUGE thanks to Rocky for being in the right place at the right time, with jumper cables, for me).  Probably going to be another long story here.  Limped back to the Hotel, and swapped out my coil w/ one Jack Crosby had, and also disconnected my tach thiw AM under the portico. .  That seemed to help things somewhat, but the engine is NOT running right.  It did get me home, tho, and so its in the shed waiting for further assessments.  Another thread to be seen here no doubt.  But as to the week end, it was quite good, many old friends and a few new ones.  I was looking to chat up Mr. Heckman, but was never able to hook up.  Sorry I missed that.  Thanks as always to those that work to bring this about: Norma, Bruce, Alan, Connie, and others too.  Majorly terrific.

Speedster (and Spyders and MGs too) RULE!!!

Back in Connecticut. A nice, uneventful trip to Carlisle and back. The car ran like a champ. It was great meeting everyone. Thanks, Bruce, for the advice on the top. The light rain at the start of the trip back home dissipated after about an hour, and it was dry roads the rest of the way home. Troy's cruzin windows did a nice job keeping the water out and the fresh air coming in - highly recommended.

Odd thing though, my wife who is very nervous when driving or riding in a "regular" car, snoozed and crocheted (when she wasn't snoozing) the whole ride home.

Wet drive home yesterday followed by a HOT one today, but I made it home safely.. Unfortunately Leon's problems came up again (so Maddy texted me) and he is overnighting at a hotel.  Hopefully they can help him get home tomorrow and he can get it sorted out.  We had to stop a couple of times yesterday and are convinced that it is a heat soak problem.

I have over 400 photos to sort through before I can post a manageable bunch, but here are a few from the afternoon autocross.

This was  our 4th year at Carlisle with SOC and the best one! Thanks to Bruce & Norma and Alan & Connie and Wild Bill for the arrangements. Cory-great job as MC at the banquet and your drawings were outstanding. Alan-the new outlaw is neat!

Mel &Ann followed us to Carlisle and we had a great time on the way-one memorable stop was at Cabelas.

Thank you Rich for the great shirts.

Thanks to the manufacturers-Beck and Intermedica for bringing your outstanding cars and answering all my questions. It was wonderful to see the members different cars-I was most impressed how Ednova shoehorned the Subie into his TD.

It was great to meet old friends and meet ones I only knew from the Website.

Thanks to Hedi Gallo for showing Barbara and me the video she made from my car when we were doing Parade Laps at Lime Rock Vintage Racing Labor Day weekend 2014-good job!

Jack Crosby's suggestion to modify my side curtains kept the inside of my tub completely dry during the downpours.

A good friend of mine and & his wife drove down from NJ in his Fiat Abarth and he had to show and describe every Fiat on the field-we were exhausted!

A bonus for me-Danny P. worked his magic on my Webers-he accomplished in 15 minutes what I couldn't in XXXXX hours. No more backfiring and better gas mileage -Thank you. Also thank you to Dave for going to his shop to get me tubing, clamps, and a tubing cutter so I could repair my breather system.

We made it home (200 miles) in exactly 4 hours and that included a stop for breakfast and one fuel stop with no problems.

Looking forward to next year. I am willing to help arrange a Fall meet like the Pumpkin Run if there is interest.

Joel

Congratulations Allan, well deserved as is the award to Darcie and Stephen...  Great cars....

I got home Tue. May 19th. about 10:00AM...  As everyone is sick of hearing, my car had a fuel starvation problem on the way to the show and again on both legs of the return trip....  The final insult was when the car was restarted after the last stall, the engine came to life with an alarming "rattle"....  Ron and Maddie and I exited at once, and decided to split up...They proceeded on home and I overnighted at a Holiday Inn.

I left at promptly 5:00AM and stoped for gas in Murphy N.C. where Ron met me and escorted me home.  ( another 150 miles on his trip. )

SOC hospitality at it's best....

Thanks Ron and Maddie....

P.S.  My thanks for everyone's patience during the "Caravan".

No it did not....   And to show how my luck is running, The Velcro I had on my cell phone attached its self to my dirty laundry and took the phone for a bath....

So keep an eye out for an incoming call request, if I can't salvage this one...

The rattle seems to be clutch related....  I'm trying to connect with my shop to schedule the look / see repair...
