OK, so he's driving a funny little British replica, but it DOES have a German VW heart....

Missed last couple years at Carlisle but seems like there were 8 (?) TDs there last year! Hopefully this will draw a few more this year. Way to go Schu!
Schu da man!
We had nine TDs and one TF replica at the 2013 Carlisle show. (only 8 TDs are in the group photo; one had left before the photo shoot).
Expecting at least ten this year. Kinda reminds me of the early days of the Speedster/Spyder group; although I don't think we'll ever reach the SOG numbers.
Thanks guys - I swear I was going faster than it looks!
Yah, Dale, and you're prettier than you look, too!
SOC guys: y'all should try the auto-X this year. It's a blast. And it's necessary for someone to show Danny P the fast way around without driving between the cones.
You guys have to let us know when you're going to do this. I didn't know about it until that evening. Give me a heads-up and we'll post something in the tent...might even decide to join you.
I'm curious...I've always wondered about that first turn. It always looked off-camber to me and since I've never driven it, what is your experience with it?
It is a tiny bit off camber. It looks more off than it is. You do need to do all your braking before turn-in, Bruce.
I want to see more cars run the auto-X this year, like some Speedsters maybe?
Good on you Dale!
It'll take me an hour to unpack all my stuff!
Bruce the course is short and slow. Second gear all the way. It's mostly flat though Danny might be right about one turn being off camber. You brake hard before you get there and roll on while your in it and the back end will come around so you will be pointed generally in the direction you desire.
It's a lot of fun to try to go fast on that course even though you really can't go very fast.
Here's a short clip of my buddy, Danny P, on the Auto-X track at Carlisle 2013. No sound track other than the exhaust note of Danny's Spyder and, of course, the SOC peanut gallery looking on. TOO MUCH FUN!!!
See you all in Carlisle!!
Yeah yeah yeah, Paul....Yup, I screwed up where to go. I figured it out eventually. First time EVER on an Auto X course!
Third lap was the charm bro! But at least you were out there!
I took Wobby's advice (aka Crazy MG Guy), who kept saying, "Nothin' good ever come from racin'."
Of course he was chanting that mantra as he helped Ed strip off all the excess weight from his TD.
