Carlisle Saturday Caravan from lower pa, md, de, nj

Looking to see who is driving up to Carlisle on Saturday morning who may want to caravan up. I talked to Mickey and I know he is interested, is there anyone else looking to join? I live in Delta, Pa. which is just across the Md line (Harford County). I'm open to drive and meet anywhere within reason...

I'll be heading to Carlisle Sat A.M. I planned to take turnpike PA 76, from Downingtown to Carlisle.
What route(s) and time(s) are you going?

I just pm'ed Brian. I was thinking we'd catch the turnpike from around Exton, Pa. We're still trying to lock in a time and I have to see what Dave West wants to do. We could catch you on the turnpike near Downingtown at a designated time. What time do the gates open and what time were you looking to get there? As I get info I'll update here.

According to the Carlisle events flyer, the gates open at 7:00 AM. I'd like to get there early. At least by 9:30 or 10:00. That means a start time of about 7:30 is good for me. Earlier is OK too.

How close are you to rt.10 & rt. 30 the Honeybrook area? I know there's a Mcdonalds across the street from a Wawa right were 30 bypass begins. I could meet you there. I'll be coming from 372 to route 10.

If that don't work then I'm going to drive up rt 1 and meet Mickey and head down with him and Dave..

Either way will work for me Brian. I got an email from Dave and he's in either way as well. He may ride up with me or follow in his nissan since he just sold his speedster. I'm still trying to nail down a time I'll be able to get outof the house in the morning.

Skip breakfast until you get to Carlisle and sample the huge Egg Sandwiches at Carlisle Marching Band Consession under the stands !

The lunches are amazing, too. Some folks started eating breakfast at the hotel Carlisle until they saw that the rest of us were getting fabulous eats at half the money at the show grounds.

We all say this every year, but it's true.....Carlisle Car shows have THE BEST food on ANY show circuit!!

It looks like I can get free about 7:30am saturday. I think Carlisle is about 2 hours from here which would, realistically, get me there around 10am. I can meet up with Brian and Greg where ever works for them and Dave can just meet me in Wilmington to join up with the others. Let me know if this works for you guys. I figure with a stop or two is probably in the trip.

I am going to be arriving fairly late on Friday night. I am probably driving the Toyota so I will volunteer to be a right seater on Saturday and Sunday.

Gordon... what do I need to do to make the necessary preparations since I will not have the speedster with me? I am taking Ron's reservation at the Ramada Friday night.

No Speedy?! Rats! I really did want to see all of the work you've been doing on it.

As for the right-seater bid'ness, you're welcome to ride in mine for a bit. I recommend the "roving right-seater" plan like I was on last year. Your butt gets to sample a bunch of different cars.

I would love to roll with the speedy, but if I am going to drive straight through with no stops, the speedy is just not the ride to do that in. I took it out for 100 mile cruise Saturday and I got lock-knee in the left leg. I am not so sure I could take it for 9 hours. However, I am still working on a truck/trailer situation.

Yeah, I was expecting that you'd trailer it, given your need for a non-stop. I sure wouldn't do it non-stop. With or without, we'll see you Friday night or Saturday morning.

Dave West pm'd me and he's got a few things to do in the morning so he'll head up later solo.

I'll have a right seat available for the Thursday dinner cruise. Might also have the Friday dinner cruise available but you might have to arm wrestle my 2 and 4-year old grandsons for the seat. :>) Hotfoot (wife) has the Saturday cruise locked in.

On the Westbound side of the PA turnpike between Downingtown and Morgantown toll booths at MP 304.8 is a Service Plaza.
How about we meet there? If good, what time can you be there?

Greg from looking at the map, I would say there no reason why if we meet @ 7:45 that we can't be at the rest stop by 8:15, at the latest 8:30. What do you think Mickey?

Seems reasonable to me. I know exacty where it is so if we meet at 7:45 we should have no problem getting there by 8:15. Brian, I'm gonna take a spin up to 202 & 1 and find us an easy meeting spot and post it later.

When you turn left from 1 North on to 202 North a little less than 3/4 miles on the right is a place called Jimmy John's, we can meet in the lot there and them head up to catch Greg.

Service Plaza at MP 304.8 on Westbound side of Turnpike. (This is a little before the Morgantown tool boot exit)

Time:
