I'm going to try to get a consensus opinion together. I know the thread's going to drift, but let's try to get this sorted out in the next few weeks anyway, okay?
In the past, we've had some kind of souvenir coming out of the Carlisle show. There have been tee-shirts, mugs, grille badges, hats and the like.
Someone came up with the idea of a Speedsters Meet Spyders tool bag that would fit behind the driver's seat of either type of car; I became aware of that suggestion last week in a conversation with Danny.
There has been at least one request to have mugs made again, as a result of Danny's really huge success with last year's creations. Unfortunately, I believe we're too late to do that again. :(
We have been pretty selective about what we have done each year, and they've always been big hits as a result. The feedback on repeating some of our past ideas has been that glass items could break on the ride home, tee-shirts in the size ranges we'd need would be potentially cost-ineffective, and that not everyone likes just getting one thing to take home -- and maybe most importantly, someone has almost always been left holding the bag on overruns.
Okay. So ...
I think we have a plan. In the interests of making as many people happy as possible, Danny, myself, Teresa, East Coast Bruce and a bit of consultancy by Gordon and Alan have led me to conclude that it is a good idea to change it up again -- so that souvenirs don't become redundant and therefore boring.
The embroidery shop we used last year is ready, willing and able to fire up the machines again for us this year, but we'll have to give something to her in a couple weeks to make sure we have a good pattern to present the committee mentioned above. We also have to tell her what item we'd like embroidered in order to get them in and done on time.
I would like the logo for this year to be a Speedster, a Spyder, a cabriolet and a coupe, with the Pennsylvania Keystone as a background. The rough sketch is below, left over from a year or so ago. The other two pictures use my tool bag to illustrate the usefulness.
What I propose, the "poll" I'm looking for here, is whether tool bags measuring about ten inches long, six inches wide and six inches high, in a standard color, would work for everyone.
I feel like that's the most practical option, and we would be able to sell off any overages. As always, suggestions are more than welcome -- but please vote "yea" or "nay" on the tool bag idea first -- that way, I'll know whether or not to order up a bunch in time for the show. If you want to suggest a color, I'll see what the majority want and try to locate that color.

To summarize the question: Would you want an embroidered tool bag to put behind the driver's seat of your car as a Carlisle souvenir?

Since we have an estimated 40 cars and 80 people coming, I'll say go ahead to the embroidery lady as soon as we get 21 people to say yes, or kill the idea if 21 say no. Fair enough?

Cory, excellent size on the toolbag. IT would be really cool if they were made from Cordura, either gray or black, to match everyone's car.

I am liking the drawing too, I get where you're going with it now. Green coupe, it's a part of some of us Gerd!

+1 on the bag,-1 on the shirts.

BTW, is that a Sucret's box with the hinged lid? Haven't seen one of those in forever!
Also, with the butane, I guess we should bring some cigars?
Now you boys play nice....I don't think there is anything that can bring my mother back, at least it hasen't been done by anyone to this point that I am aware of, so no harm no foul....

In the picture of the bag I don't see any Accelerator cable, spark plugs, condoms, sanitary napkins, disposable potty...you know the essentials....and the "embroidery" thing is a little gay for me, but I can see how you "other Coasters" are all excited...
Harbor Freight has inexpensive tool bags in black for $10 - they aren't real heavy duty material - but one looks like match for Cory's military OD surplus one. Assumme target cost would be $30ish?

Cheaper-than-dirt has some too - check out $10 Bag-099 (German used so might have bullet holes)

You could do a "sew on" embroidery patch with suggested image and folks could apply to a bag, coat, sweatshirt, backpack or whatever.

I'd be in for this one, certainly. Very clever idea -- a winner. I have no problem w/ the embroidery thing, betting that the Artiste Drake can maneuver his sketches to suit. A green coupe, a sliver Spyder, a red Speedster, and whatever for the Conv-D. Bag color black or military OD works either way.

Your "kit" is very well thought out, and would service a lot of troubles -- and probably has. Is there a 17mm in there too? How do you get the new/old fan belt on/off, assuming you are not well practiced in the art of fan belt R&R w/ the motor running, in which case all you need is a screw driver. Or, how about a lug wrench in case a wheel has to come off? I also wondered about the throttle cable wrt essential tools, however. And I make room for a can of Fix-a-flat, since no spare on board.

$30 -- You going to include all the tools too?? LOL.

Be sure to pack Vince's w/ the tampons and condoms. Do they make Oban miniatures?? I'm just sayin' . . .
Right on, Gerd. Buy your plane tickets out here yet? :)

Seriously, we're only going to make 50. I'm not sure of the per-bag cost just yet, but I know we're going to be in the $20.00 range for a very nice, quality product. We'll know the exact price when we have completed the prototype, as they say.
As it turns out, we were able to locate 50 bags of the same specifications as mine; good, durable, Army-issue tool kit bags -- but in black instead of green.
Any fashionista, especially Vince, will tell you that black is the new black. Goes with anything and is very slimming for those with wide-bodied Tubs.
The shape of the bag will determine the available room for artwork, so as it stands now it may be a variation on last year's very successful shirt design:
