Carlisle 2012 and 2013 – the latest years and the largest gatherings of 356/550’s ever!
This is the last of my quartet of videos and while they cover a lot of ground, there was a whole lot of stuff, especially in the “Hospitality Room” late in the evening, that went uncovered and maybe that is as it should be……
We also haven’t seen much of the rest of the show field – it is vast, something like 75 acres of cars and equipment on display, along with a sizeable vendor market, bands, chili cook-offs, autocross racing, and enormous groups of import cars. Audi always has the largest group and always seems to win for best hospitality tent. Chris and I visited them a few times and their tent is awesome, but there are a lot of other import groups worth visiting, too.
I noticed in 2013 that one of the import groups has begun trying to emulate our hill-side photo display of our cars, so it looks like we’ve started another “movement”, besides being the largest “kit” group to attend (and we’re getting fewer true “kit” cars every year). No other group, however, has ever (to my knowledge) built an entire car at the show in a weekend as we all did in 2006. Pretty cool........
Admittedly, in 2012 I was coming up to speed with my little, high definition video camera (and “little” it is – it’s about the size of an iPhone) and I haven’t yet gone the route of mounting it on a pole or suction cup mount for “on the road” videos, but that may be coming this year. As I said earlier, I've been thinking of doing some "Themed" Speedster videos, but will have to give some thought to how they might look.
I hope you have all enjoyed these videos as much as I did making them and that they just might get a few more people to show up for what we all feel is the biggest and best gathering of 356 and 550 replica cars on the planet and it just keeps getting better each year.
Remember, it’s often been called “The best family reunion you always wished you had!”
