A Carlisle trip without rain or scorching heat (I heard about '04) would be a real treat. If there is such a thing as a "no rain dance" I will start doing it or perhaps invent it. Maybe we can get the winner of the bikini contest to demonstrate at the banquet. BTW, I am not in the running for that contest either.
Which reminds me....

If you're coming to Carlisle, bring along some sort of water-proof car cover for the overnight stays. Even if it doesn't rain (which it looks like it won't, but ya never know), the dew can be pretty heavy this time of year, so your car WILL get wet overnight.

Covering it really shortens prep and departure time in the morning (and you won't want to miss breakfast with us all at the show).

My car cover is a classic: $18 dollar, Bright Blue tarp from the Home Depot, held on with a bunch of bungees. Not necessarily pretty, but functional to a fault.

Oh, and don't forget a raincoat for yourself and any companions, too.

And a warm sweater or sweatshirt, just in case.

And your mother would tell you to bring your rubbers....

over and out!

We right coasters are tough and can stand tall against most anything mother nature can throw at us, right? When I did Knotts in '05, I found out that there was no truth to the lyrics from the song that state, "it never rains in Southern California." Bull feathers! It rained plenty overnight Saturday night and there was also a substantial shower on Sunday. What the hey, I had a good time anyway and I think most of the rest of us did too.

Hopefully the worst case scenario for Carlisle would be rain during the drive to/from the show but clear skies during the event itself. This was the case in our Paso Robles meet (see pics below). If you guys are as funny as evident on this site, I'm sure it wouldn't matter what the weather is for y'all to have a good (Speedster) time.

BTW, anyone else besides me still interested in a 'National' SOC meet somewhere in mid-America. Maybe the Colorado/Loveland gig in 2008 would be a start in that direction.

Peace - Out!

God, Jim....that park is BEAUTIFUL! Looks just like the one they let us park in at Watkins Glen last September. Nice spots, both.

Carlisle:

Three years ago we had Sunny and 90's

Two years ago we had scattered showers on Friday, but partly cloudy, absolute friggin downpours on Saturday morning, then partly cloudy turning to sunny late in the day and Sunday was perfect. Cooler all three days

Last year was nice on Thursday, Really cold and rainy at times on Friday, then Saturday turned out warmer and was really nice, although definitely NOT Bermuda shorts weather. Sunday was a perfect day to drive home in.

This year's weather?? Who the heck knows. That's why we bring the beer!!
As I read all of the comments from the Carlisle bunch I find myself wishing I had been able to come again this year. Had a ball last year and met some really good people. (and ... they put up with the every changing weather without much grumbling!) My best wishes to all of you. Hoist a drink for me.

Jim Ignacio ... Keep pushing for a meeting here in Colorado and I will get working on a place and a time. Maybe we can make this some kind of "national" event. How about it, Theron, can you give us some direction and support? It cojld really be fun and a "hands across the nation" kind of gathering.

Drive fast, drive safe, Keep smiling (stay dry),
Dusty (Mr Coolness ?)

Thanks, Jimbo. And hey -- thanks again for the car cover.
I still have the three-seasons jobber I'll be taking up for Gordon; I'll be using the one you sent for myself.
Ditch the blue tarp, Gordon! Help is on the way!
Blake and Jen:

The interior (and, in other places, exterior) intrusion of moisture (some may call it a deluge, but what do they know?) is actually a much-sought-after feature on many Speedsters and Spyders. It is a 356/550's way of bringing us back to those "Golden Days of Yesteryear", when real men drove real cars of real character, and their women loved them for it....

None of those over-weather-stripped, Leak-proof, "pretend" sports cars for us....NO! WE choose to have an authentic sports car of yesteryear, with all of the nuances, patina and idiosyncracies (and leaks) that they deserve. (Come to think of it, us drivers are pretty idiosyncratic, tooooo........ 8>|

But you have to admit, it gives you and your friends MUCH more to talk about 'round the water cooler, doesn't it????

OOPs, Blake and Jen, I forgot you guys read these posts....
Only Kidding.....I made sure I didn't deliver a car that was wet, so I put fans (2) in the car for 2 days straight and when I had the motor detailed I had them also be sure the carpets were dry....
All that and a few days in the Paso sun should have fixed any water residue...but did I neglect to mention that your new speedster is not water tight...fact is, it's not even bee tight. but thats another story....
This isn't really weather related, but I didn't want to start a new thread...

How late does everyone plan on staying at the show on Friday (tomorrow)?

I have to work all weekend, so I was thinking about taking a half-day tomorrow and driving out (only about 3 hours each way) just for the day. I just don't want to show up at 3pm and have all of the vendors and exhibitors packing up.
OK, troops! I just drove through Carlisle yesterday!! Kathy, the 2 pups and me went through ther eon our way to Massachusetts for the Summer. Yes, I know I have to turn around in a week and go back, but I also want to go to New Hampshire this coming weekend and pick up a never-started CMC kit, so them's the breaks.

WX in Carlisle yesterday was absolutely gorgeous - looking forward to next week!!!!!

Gordon
First one to Carlisle and proud of it (even if I was a week early!!!)
