A question for the bug to speedster guys, there is a carmin gea to be auctioned at a estate sale. I'm sure it is rough shape, Is the engine in the carmin gea about the same as a bug, or is it a bit better. Does the carmin gea share a lot of the same suspension, transaxle, etc as the bug ? I have a 70 bug based speedster and am thinking of buying this to part out for spares for the speedster. can the carmin gea be used a a doner pan? I think it is shorter than the std bug.

Karmann Ghia, is a little wider. Although mechanically they use the same parts. The car is a bit wider and can be used but will require more work to fit. The motor in a Ghia is traditional VW and the suspension and front end are the same. We have a 66 Ghia that we rebuilt as a Ghia and boy it turns heads as much as the Speedster.

CRAP! That's a great picture, Mike. How do you EVER decide which car to drive. Don't say it's dependent on the weather, cause I know you would treat such a fabulous Ghia in that way.

Just BEAUTIFUL! BOTH of 'em ! ! ! !

Here's my Ghia:

It's a '74 coupe under going a Cabrio conversion, body "back date" to '69, and engine swap.
